The Catch Sushi Bar
About the Business
Welcome to The Catch Sushi Bar, located at 48 Courtenay Place in Te Aro, Wellington. As a popular establishment and point of interest in New Zealand, we are proud to offer a delightful dining experience in our Japanese cuisine restaurant.
At The Catch Sushi Bar, we strive to cater to a variety of tastes and dietary needs. While our vegetarian options may not be extensive, they are certainly sufficient for a satisfying meal. We take pride in our delicious mochi, which is especially delightful.
Even if you are not typically a fan of sushi, you will be pleasantly surprised by our offerings. Our restaurant features a unique sushi train concept, where you can feast your eyes on an array of delectable dishes passing by on a conveyor belt. Simply select the plates that catch your attention and indulge in the flavors. The bill is conveniently calculated based on the number and color of plates you consume, providing a fun and interactive dining experience.
Despite the freshness and quality of our sushi, you will find our prices to be reasonable. While not the cheapest option available, we believe that the value for money is worth it. We highly recommend trying our tofu sushi and karaage chicken, which are both incredibly tasty. The tofu provides a great alternative for those with dietary needs such as vegetarians or vegans. Additionally, we offer other options such as avocado sushi, deep-fried tofu, and beans.
Our restaurant is family-friendly, and children particularly enjoy the sushi train concept. We have witnessed the joy on the faces of many kids, and even newborns, as they experience the excitement of choosing their own plates. Our accommodating staff provides excellent service, ensuring a pleasant dining experience for all. Additionally, we maintain a clean bathroom facility and offer complimentary lemon water for your convenience.
If you are driving and seeking parking nearby, we recommend looking for a spot on Allen Street. Please note that parking in the city is generally paid, but the cost is reasonable, with an hour costing only $5.
Discover this hidden gem with the entertainment book and you will not be disappointed. Our diverse menu caters to both kids and adults, and our prices are very reasonable. With the entertainment book, you can even enjoy a 25% discount on your lunch bill, making it an even more enticing offer.

"Awesome little place. Not a huge selection of vegetarian options but definitely enough for a meal. The mochi was especially delicious!"
"We found this gem with the entertainment book and couldn’t have been happier. A great selection of foods to cater to kids as well as adults. And very reasonably priced! $30 for lunch for three (with entertainment book 25%)"
"A sushi train! Great selection of tasty sushi options being made in real time by the chef only metres away. Plates priced by colour. Highly recommended for quick, casual and great date or family experience, or even alone. It all works. We've been going to catch since the nineties, then with our kids as they grew up, and now just ourselves again, or with our now 20-somethings who still love it."
"Fabulous to be able to quickly eat as soon as you sit down. Fish was lovely and fresh and lots of variety to pick from on the sushi train."
"I am usually not a big fan of sushi but this was awesome. It was my first time going to a restaurant with a sushi train. Everything looked so delicious! They charge by the plate so you basically just grab whatever you like the look of off the train and eat it. They the bill gets totalled up at the end by the number and colour of plates you ate. I was actually surprised at the cost. It wasn't the cheapest around but it definitely wasn't expensive. I felt it was money well spent for the freshness and quality of the sushi. Plus I had so much fun! I ate alot tofu sushi and some karaage chicken. The chicken was to die for! Highly recommend that! And the tofu is a great alternative for those with dietary needs like vegetarian or vegan. There were also other options i noticed; avocado sushi, deep fried tofu and beans. The restaurant is also family friendly. Kids love the sushi train! I saw quite a number of kids and even a new born in the restaurant. The staff are very accommodating and gave fantastic service. They also had a bathroom which was very clean and free lemon water. If you are wanting to park really close, try find a spot on Allen Street. It seems like all the parking in the city is paid. But it only cost us $5 for an hour."
