At Chieko McGee Counselling, we provide a warm, safe, and confidential space for you to share and express your feelings, thoughts, and difficulties in life. Our goal is to help you feel well held and supported as we explore ways to move forward together.

Life can be challenging, and during counselling sessions, we'll not only address the issues and problems you're facing but also delve deeper into the wealth of information they hold about your inner self and potential. Our aim is to help you gain a fuller understanding of yourself and develop new skills to enhance your awareness of choice and direction in life.

Our approach is based on psychosynthesis, a psychospiritual framework that combines Western analytic psychology with Eastern meditative psychology. We believe in tailoring our methods to suit each individual rather than fitting people into pre-set techniques. By listening to your unique story, we support you on your personal journey.

As the founder of Chieko McGee Counselling, I bring a background in special education and years of experience as a Teacher Aide at a Special School. This has taught me to deeply understand individuals and use creative thinking in my work with clients.

I am a member of the NZ Association of Counsellors (MNZAC) and a Clinical Member of Psychosynthesis in Aotearoa NZ and New Zealand (MPAnzA). I am fluent in both English and Japanese, so language barriers will not be an issue.

We offer flexible appointment times, so please feel free to enquire about availability. Our standard rate for a session is $90 per hour, with the first session being $60. If you are on benefits or have a low income, WINZ subsidies are available.

Chieko McGee Counselling is part of Talkingworks, a platform created by Karen Field, a Registered psychotherapist (MNZAP) and counsellor (MNZAC) with 15 years of private practice experience on the Hibiscus Coast.
