Db4dance School

Welcome to db4dance School, located at 18 Harrison Street, Wellington, New Zealand. Our establishment is a point of interest for children who are interested in learning dance in a fun and challenging environment. Whether your child has previous dance experience or not, our classes are designed to encourage and inspire them.

At db4dance, we believe that dance is a form of self-expression and creativity. Our classes do not include exams, but they cover the same level of work as traditional dance classes. Children will gain a great understanding and appreciation of different genres and themed music, allowing them to explore their artistic abilities.

While we do not have a strict uniform policy, we do require children to wear suitable clothing for the classes. Parents are welcome to watch the classes, as long as they do not distract the children from their learning.

We offer dance classes at three different venues in Wellington: Brooklyn Community Centre, Vogelmorn Hall, and Wellington Pipe Band Hall. These locations provide a convenient and accessible space for children to learn and grow in their dance skills.

Our classes cater to different age groups and skill levels. For preschoolers aged 3 and 4 years, we offer fun classes that promote coordination, physical exercise, cooperation, and imagination. These classes introduce simple technique exercises, steps, and dances.

For children aged 5 and 6 years, our Ballet/Jazz 1 classes lay the foundation in Ballet and Jazz. Children will learn floor exercises, barre work, center work, and traveling steps. They will also develop body awareness, concentration, coordination, physical fitness, rhythm, strength-building, and flexibility.

Our Ballet/Jazz 2 classes, designed for children aged 7 and 8 years, build upon the skills learned in level 1. These classes focus on rhythm, physical fitness, strength, coordination, and flexibility. Children will gain confidence in technique and learn to remember combinations of steps and movements in both ballet and jazz.

Please note that all classes are subject to a minimum number of 4 enrollments per class with full term fees paid before the classes commence. Any absences can be made up by attending the same class at a different venue. The timetable and class times for term 2 or 3 may be subject to change. To enroll, please send your child's name, age, venue, and payment to info@db4dance.co.nz. New enrollments are always welcome throughout the term.

If you would like to try a class before committing to the term, trial classes are available for a cost of $12. This amount will be deducted from the term fee if your child decides to continue. Term fees can be paid in cash or through internet banking.

Our classes have a duration of 30 minutes, and the cost for the term varies depending on the number of weeks. A 7-week term is priced at $70, an 8-week term at $80, and a 9-week term at $90.

Our founder, Debbie Groves, is a highly qualified dance instructor with extensive experience in teaching and performing. She is a Distinguished Graduate of the NZ School of Dance and has taught in various countries before establishing db4dance classes in Wellington.
