Building Officials Institute

Welcome to the Building Officials Institute, located at 84 Boulcott Street in Wellington, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution is dedicated to ensuring that the quality of New Zealand's buildings meets the requirements of the community and their occupants.

At our Training Academy, we provide relevant and up-to-date quality training and events for building control staff, the building industry, and anyone interested in building compliance and achieving quality building outcomes. Our courses offer the flexibility to learn at your own pace and at a time that suits you, with each course typically taking between 1 and 2 hours, depending on your existing knowledge base.

One of the unique benefits of our classroom courses is the opportunity to network and learn from your peers. You can join these courses in person or via online zoom sessions, allowing for both convenience and interaction.

Our Entry to BCA course is the starting point for those pursuing a career in Building Surveying. This 2-part learning pathway is designed to effectively and efficiently increase competency in the field.

We value feedback from our community, and we invite you to provide your thoughts on the proposed new Constitution by Thursday, 31 August 2023.

Please note that there will be no publication of Code Talk on Wednesday, 16 August, as our staff will be attending the Senior Building Control Officers Forum in Blenheim.

We are excited to announce a free webinar on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 11:00am to 12:30pm. This informative and interactive session is open to members of AAC, BOINZ, and ICC.
