"Newlands Intermediate is a great school where kids can have fun and socialize. I have met many people who think Newlands is a strict school just because of their uniform and that's completely wrong. Newlands Intermediate has uniforms so that they can provide a safe and clean enviroment for kids to work in and better fascilities for all. They have two netball courts, two basketball courts, one turf used for mostly football, a sand turf used for netball and hockey, a courtyard, a library with a variety of choices of books, a big field, and a playground. Newlands also sells their own honey by having a beehive, and they also have Food Tech (which is learning how to cook in the kitchen), Hard Tech (woodworks) Tech Styles (sewing and stitching) and Art Tech (painting). They even have a canteen with yummy goodies every Friday next to the hall. Have a great time at Newlands Intermediate School (also known as NIS). (Raroa not recommended)"
"Quite a few of the reviews are actually from teachers of this school (just so you know) From experience I will say this school is very much hit or miss, you might hate it or you might love it. If you have a genuine interest in Maori culture and singing then you will enjoy the 1 hour a day of singing Maori songs for an ENTIRE TERM, and its compulsory so not like you have a choice. For me I hated it, and no Twitter this isn't me being racist towards Maori people it just got incredibly boring having to sing the same songs again and again and again, and I know that many of the students also feel the same way. The choices in regards to digital technology classes however I have to give points for, they have many options in what you can do in those classes. And their art and hard technology classes are also pretty well set up and quite enjoyable. I was lucky to get good teachers to have an enjoyable learning experience but I have friends who weren't as lucky and their experience at this school was FAR worse. The school also provides plenty of sporting opportunities (some of which are also mandatory) and house competitions between the best teams in house groups. Campus is also well maintained and the toilets though less modern don't look NEARLY as bad as Newlands College. Overall a pretty good school but I didn't enjoy my time here. Also one of the teachers in a review was talking about a student wanting to kill themselves and saying that they should get help instead of helping them themselves, honestly I'm disappointed especially since he did kill himself. May he rest in peace."
"Great friendly place with amazing staff and diverse students. Very inclusive atmosphere with fabulous computer/coding equipment and clubs."
"This is a great school and I highly recommend it and to the person that is considered killing himself multiple times please get some help it sounds like you need a lot of it. Roro is a great place but so is this school. 6 Share"
"A popular coed intermediate school in North Wellington. The facilities are clean and modern, the teachers are young and energetic, and the pupils are well behaved and eager to learn. I have two children in the process of going through NIS abs have been very pleasantly surprised with how the school is run. Having a school uniform is great too!"
