West Park School & Community Emergency Hub
About the Business
Welcome to West Park School & Community Emergency Hub! Located at 97 Broderick Road in Wellington, New Zealand, our institution is not only a school but also a point of interest for the community. We understand that choosing the right school for your child is a significant decision, as it not only shapes their academic success but also their character development. At West Park School, we prioritize both aspects with great care.
But it's not all about academics here! We also believe in creating a fun and engaging environment for our students. That's why we're excited to announce that it's disco time again! On Friday, August 4th, we will be hosting a Pyjama Disco. Students in years 0-3 can enjoy the disco from 6pm to 7pm, while those in years 4-6 can join in from 7.15pm to 8.30pm. To make the event even more exciting, we will have pizza, drinks, sweet treats, and glow products available for sale. And of course, don't forget to wear your favorite pyjamas! The entry fee will be a gold coin donation.
To ensure the safety of all our students during the disco, we are in need of some helpers. We need people to supervise at the entry and exit points, as well as individuals to sell food, drinks, and glow products. Additionally, we will be asking for donations of baking for the food stall, which is always a hit at the disco!
Safety is our top priority at West Park School. We recently completed a successful reverse evacuation drill, where our students demonstrated maturity and followed emergency procedures with controlled urgency. As part of our emergency protocol, we conduct regular exercises to ensure that both staff and students are familiar with our processes. In the event of a major incident at the school, we will notify you if you need to pick up your child. Please proceed to the school carefully, being aware of any hazards that may have occurred.
Next week, we will be conducting emergency preparedness drills at West Park School. On Monday, June 12th, we will hold a reverse evacuation (a lockdown) where students will practice hiding in classrooms. We kindly ask that you discuss this upcoming drill with your child, assuring them that it is just a practice. It would be great if you could also discuss how it went on the day it occurs.
We apologize in advance for the number of communications you may receive from us regarding emergency procedures. It is all part of our commitment to practicing and ensuring the safety of our community.
At West Park School, our core values serve as the foundation for how we operate. We believe in alignment and collaboration between the Board, staff, parents, and the wider community. Our School Charter further expands on our core purpose and how we express our values through our school.
If you have any further inquiries about our school community, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to welcoming you and your child to West Park School & Community Emergency Hub.

"I don't know what it's like now but back when I went for the first term of year 1(2012/2013 don't quite remember when exactly) the teachers were really mean and it was not a good learning experience. I left with 5 almost permanent handwriting habits that I only managed to get rid of in like year 8. I hope it has gotten better since then"
"All staff are friendly my kids enjoyed here."
"Both my daughters enjoyed their time there, and the teachers were very good."
"Absolutely love this school, near the kindy and great park in between. I live in Johnsonville but am not considered to be in the J'ville zone but this school doesnt have a zone so anyone can go as far as I know. The school has changed now\upgrading and renovations though and has recently become fully fenced which is great when worrying about safety and children wandering off or going places they shouldn't. I Love the fact that it is now "gated" which is not an inexpensive thing to do for a school especially one so large and is usually more commonplace for private or posh schools, lovely to see such nice fencing on one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to attend. The photo is out of date because there is no fencing showing. nice front gates with parental locks and the whole back park area fenced as well. the school is also under reconsctruction and renovation currently i'm not sure what they are doing exactly but some buildings are out of bounds and cordoned off with tarps all over them. I can't wait until the curtain unveils and we see what they've done, I imagine it will be nice. I know part of the construction is the school office. I have noticed this school has become more and more popular since parking is becoming harder and harder to find during pick up and drop off. I even used to have to go 20 minutes early to get a spot until i found my secret parking spot I shall not reveal hehe ;) The principal is lovely and teachers are all lovely from all my experiences there and as far as I can tell, a pleasure to meet, greet, and be around and have looking after your kids. This school is the best, and not on a hill like the other one, there is a hill to go up to it on one side but once you are up there its pretty flat. I love it. Five stars all the way! It's fantastic! :D"
