At Matairangi Kindergarten, we believe in the power of free play. Our dedicated teachers create an environment that fosters curiosity, learning, and independence. We provide a wide range of activities and experiences for tamariki (children) to explore and learn through. Expect your child to get wet, sandy, and messy, as water play, sand play, and messy play are not only available but also encouraged and well-utilized!
We understand the importance of recognizing and responding to the individual and shared interests, needs, and strengths of our tamariki. Through their play and interactions with people, places, and things, we intentionally plan for their growth and development.
Care routines such as settling, nappy changing, and sleeping are seamlessly integrated into our programme, offering numerous opportunities for learning. We believe that learning is facilitated through feelings of aroha (love), safety, and belonging.

We acknowledge and respect the wairua (spirit) of each child, valuing their mana (prestige) as an essential part of who they are. Tino Rangatiratanga empowers children to follow their interests and set their own goals, while respecting and valuing the decisions, aspirations, and feelings of both children and their whānau (family).
