Silverdale Kindergarten

Welcome to Silverdale Kindergarten, located at Longmore Lane in the beautiful city of Silverdale, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest in the area, we are proud to offer a unique learning experience for children in a school-like environment.

At Silverdale Kindergarten, we are dedicated to embracing the principles of Enviroschool and the Maori concept of kaupapa. Our mission is to create a healthy, peaceful, and sustainable world through collaborative teaching and learning. Together, our children and teachers embark on a journey to explore the art of sustainability, which includes activities such as growing vegetables, gardening, eliminating plastic bags, worm farming, and composting.

One of our core values is the integration of Māori perspectives into our program. Our teachers naturally incorporate te reo Māori (Māori language) through the use of short phrases, words, and waiata (songs). We also participate in an annual Maori kapahaka festival, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of New Zealand.

Silverdale Kindergarten is a multicultural institution, with many cultures represented within our community. Our team works closely with families to understand the unique cultural needs of each child. We have a dedicated cultural area and use greetings in various languages to promote cultural diversity. Families are encouraged to share their culture with us through stories, songs, and cultural celebrations.

For your convenience, we follow a structured calendar. In 2023, our Term 3 runs from 17th July to 29th September, and Term 4 runs from 9th October to 20th December.
