Welcome to My Child Speech Pathology, located in the heart of Ballarat's CBD on Sturt Street. My name is Jane, and I am a dedicated speech pathologist specializing in working with children. My main goal is to assist children in developing their speech, language, communication, and literacy skills, allowing them to fully participate in family, social, and educational life.

With years of experience as a pediatric speech pathologist and a qualified primary school teacher, I have a deep understanding of the "building blocks" necessary for successful communication and literacy. I have previously worked in a primary school, supporting children in their journey towards effective communication and literacy.

As a resident of Ballarat, I am passionate about the community and all that it has to offer. On weekends, you can often find me enjoying the beautiful gardens or taking a walk around Lake Wendouree. I truly appreciate the lifestyle and opportunities that Ballarat provides.

At My Child Speech Pathology, I specialize in helping children who may be experiencing difficulties understanding concepts and instructions, producing words and grammatically correct phrases or sentences, making certain speech sounds, or being understood by others. I also work with children who struggle with fluency, such as interruptions, repetitions, elongations, or blocking of sounds and words. Additionally, I provide support for children who may be experiencing slower than expected development in reading and/or writing skills, as well as those who face challenges in using language and nonverbal communication appropriately with others.

I strongly believe that each child is unique and that their family plays an integral role in their development and growth. With a "family-centered practice" approach, I work closely with families to create a personalized treatment plan that considers their unique situation and ensures the best outcomes for their child. This may involve therapy sessions with me, as well as support for families to continue working with their children at home or with teachers at kinder or school.

Whether you have been referred by other healthcare professionals, maternal and child health nurses, teachers, general practitioners, or pediatricians, or if you are a self-referring family, I am here to provide the support your child needs. If you are eligible, we can also discuss the possibility of a management plan that includes a Medicare rebate for some speech pathology sessions.
