About Historic Fire Station
Welcome to the Historic Fire Station, located at 58 View Street in Bendigo, Australia. This establishment is not your typical fire station, but rather a unique point of interest that offers a variety of entertainment options.
Situated next to The Capital, The Engine Room at 58 View St provides a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors. Step inside this intimate and edgy black box theater, housed in a historic old fire station building. The building itself is a stunning example of Queen Anne revival architecture, featuring red brick and white stucco details.
At The Engine Room, you can expect the unexpected. The calendar is filled with a diverse range of performances, including intimate dramas, new plays, reinterpretations of old favorites, musical performances, comedy shows, and dance performances. No matter your taste, there is something for everyone.
Parking is made convenient with off-street parking available in the QEO car park. If you need to purchase tickets, visit our Box Office at 50 View Street, open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased at The Engine Room Box Office one hour prior to a performance.
Seating at The Engine Room is general admission, but our friendly staff will be happy to assist you with any seating or accessibility needs you may have. With a capacity of 90, the venue can also be reconfigured to accommodate different event requirements.
In addition to the theatrical performances, The Engine Room also showcases a series of images on its iconic red doors on View Street. These images celebrate local performers and arts organizations that have rehearsed or performed in the space. The project, called Stages, was captured by photographer and central Victorian artist Michael Wolfe.
Don't miss out on the exciting lineup of events at The Engine Room. From reggae parties to award-winning comedy shows, there is always something happening. Experience the magic of live performances in the heart of Bendigo at this historic and quirky venue.
We would also like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and future.
