Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT - Darwin CDU campus Casuarina, Northern Territory 0909
About the Business
Welcome to Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT - Darwin CDU campus, located in the beautiful City of Darwin, in the Northern Territory of Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution is dedicated to being a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development in the Northern Territory.
At Flinders in the NT, our activities are driven by our values, which focus on both the long-term and short-term needs of the NT community. We are proud to deliver the Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP), providing comprehensive training to Flinders University and James Cook University medical students. In addition, we offer student placement and workforce capacity support through Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training and the University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) programs.
One of our key teams is the Flinders NT Regional Training Hub, working in collaboration with stakeholders to develop the capacity for NT medical specialist and rural generalist training, addressing the crucial workforce need in the region. We also offer workforce development opportunities through postgraduate education, such as our Remote Health Practice program, cultural awareness training, and other specialized courses. Our institution is committed to undertaking research and fostering the development of Indigenous leadership and the health workforce through the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health.
Our Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP) not only trains medical students but also coordinates placement opportunities and support for allied health students and interstate medical students. We understand the importance of addressing the misdistribution of medical workforce, which is why we have established regional training hubs across rural Australia, including one here in the Northern Territory. With sites in Darwin and Alice Springs, these hubs contribute to a 'rural medical training pipeline' that encompasses medical students, pre-vocational graduates, vocational trainees, rural generalist GPs, and medical specialists.
If you aspire to be a paramedic, our Bachelor of Paramedic Science program delivered exclusively in Darwin at the Flinders University campus in Casuarina will prepare you for a fulfilling career in the NT or anywhere across Australia. You will be equipped to provide tailored healthcare to patients when they need it most, making a difference in the lives of Territorians.
The NT UDRH team at our institution provides vital support and assistance to allied health and nursing students, their universities, and clinical supervisors to maximize the outcomes of their clinical placements in the Northern Territory. We also offer cultural safety and remote health practice training through our UDRH NT programs, aiming to improve the health status of populations in rural and remote areas by appropriately preparing and developing the health workforce, thereby enhancing recruitment and retention levels.
The Poche SA NT initiative focuses on building healthy country, healthy communities, and health leaders throughout the Australian central corridor, spanning across the Northern Territory and South Australia. We are grateful to our partners and stakeholders who collaborate with us across our programs in the Northern Territory, working together to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the community.
As an Australian Permanent Resident or Humanitarian Visa holder, you are welcome to join our institution and contribute to our mission of advancing healthcare in the Northern Territory. Whether you are based in South Australia, the Northern Territory, or anywhere else in the world, we also offer global and online opportunities for learning and collaboration.
