At Bay Islands Golf Club, we have a dedicated committee led by President Ian Gilleard, Vice President Rhonda Chapman, Secretary Gloria Hodder, and Treasurer Cindy Richardson. Our Club Captain Laurie Fleming and Ladies Captain Jo McAntee ensure that our members have a great golfing experience. The committee also includes John Robert, Lyn Robertson, Stu Braddy, and Alyson Soul, with a House Committee Representative position currently vacant. We encourage our members to provide input and meet with the committee to discuss any concerns or ideas they may have regarding the club's operation. Your voice matters, and we believe that open communication is the key to shaping the future of our club.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Fay Hooker and Shane Cardile for their generous sponsorship of the Happy Hooker Day. This event was a delightful day filled with entertainment, including port, chocolates, champagne, and a few brave golfers who dressed up as hookers, pimps, and footy players, bringing laughter and joy to all.
Community support is essential to us, and we recently held a fundraiser for Kane Leonard, a member of our club, to help him participate in the Redland Bay Special Olympics Golf team in Tasmania. Thanks to the efforts of Rhonda Chapman and her team, along with raffles, sponsors, sausage sizzles, and hard work, we raised over $4500 for this worthy cause.
Our club also hosts regular events, such as the VET's day, where members can enjoy a great day out on the course. Despite the unpredictable weather, Peter Turner emerged as the Men's winner, and Rhonda Chapman claimed the victory for the Ladies with an impressive score.
