The Spirited Goat
About the Business
Welcome to The Spirited Goat, a unique establishment nestled in the heart of Idalia, Australia. Inspired by the rich history and captivating legend of Kaldi, an Ethiopian goatherd, we aim to bring you an extraordinary experience that combines the best of a bar, cafe, restaurant, and store.
Step into our cozy space and be transported to a world where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air. Our story begins with Kaldi, who stumbled upon the magical properties of coffee when he noticed his goats becoming spirited after munching on the berries of a certain tree. Intrigued by this discovery, Kaldi shared his findings with the local monastery, and they decided to transform it into a delightful and invigorating drink. Little did they know that this humble beginning would shape the course of history.
At The Spirited Goat, we pay homage to this fascinating tale by curating an exceptional selection of coffee beans from around the world. Our baristas are passionate about their craft, ensuring that each cup of coffee is a work of art, brimming with flavors that will awaken your senses.

"Delicious breakfasts on flame grilled sourdough. We had the eggs benny and avo on toast, hash browns and poached eggs and bacon and it was all terrific. Fantastic smoothies and juices. Absolutely recommend."
"My go to place for good coffee and great breaky. Excellant service, always with a smile. Food is reasonably quick despite how busy it can get."
"Damien Tosh and the crew delivered an absolutely amazing 5 course degustation dinner paired with Mayfield Vineyard's wines."
"Waited over 40min for ONE meal... The serving size was HUGE, however $6 for ONE piece of toast is ridiculous!!! The bacon had been cooked in the dirtiest pan possible, as it tasted like every dirty campfire I've ever cooked on - great for the bush, but not for suburbia. Honestly, yes they are busy, and the serving sizes are huge, but during your busiest periods have more staff on, and cooking on clean cookware would go a long way."
"Edit: came here again on a trip through and was very disappointed. Ordered the same meals and it was so underwhelming. Daughters food was missing half the contents, stuck to the plate with thick sugar. No delicious granola, no berries.... staff were lovely when I spoke to them and explained the first one was an adult one apparently. So first one was a bonus. So if you have a kid with taste, dont waste your time getting the kids one... Mine, the bacon was dirty being cooked on a dirty grill.. no microgreens... I really love consistency if I find a good place to eat... and this was not it, may not be back. :( Probably one of the best feeds I've ever had in Townsville on our visits. Coffee was a little burnt but drinkable, but the food was phenomenal. The granola served with my daughters french toast was so good. Just everything was delicious. Can't wait to come back."
