About the Business
Welcome to Rossiter Park, located in Aitkenvale, on Kimball Street in Australia. This establishment is not just an ordinary park, but a point of interest and a tourist attraction in its own right. Formerly known as 'Riverside Park', it was officially renamed 'Rossiter Park' on the 23rd of November 2003, in honor of a remarkable advocate for the progress of North Queensland, Frank Rossiter.
Frank Rossiter was a tireless supporter of the construction of the dam, and his deep personal connection to the region ensured that his fight endured for 50 years. His dedication paid off when Queensland's largest dam was opened in 1988, an achievement of national importance. Frank was not only a prominent figure in the advancement of North Queensland, but also a dedicated father of three, who contributed countless hours to supporting local sporting clubs, including the Gardens Swimming Club, Picnic Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, and Arcadian Surf Lifesaving Club.
As a proud and true North Queenslander, Frank Rossiter is fondly remembered as the "Father of the Burdekin Dam" and a champion for the betterment of the lives of people living and working in North Queensland. His legacy lives on in the form of Rossiter Park, a place where visitors can not only enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings but also pay homage to the significant impact Frank had on the region.
At Rossiter Park, we welcome private events, ceremonies, and social gatherings. However, please note that bookings for such occasions, as well as any request for alcohol consumption, must be made through the Townsville City Council's Parks Services Department. You can contact them at 4727 8330 to arrange your special event in our beautiful park.
Come and experience the tranquility and rich history of Rossiter Park. Whether you are a local or a tourist, this park is a must-visit destination in North Queensland. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and pay tribute to the remarkable legacy of Frank Rossiter, a true champion of this region.

"Nice spot to take the kids for a BBQ, walk along the beautiful Ross River or relax on the well maintained lawns. Large fenced kids play area with swings and a climbing station with a sandpit. Toilets are close by near the turtle statue along with more adult sized swings. Climbing wall and basketball half court complete this as a great free adventure.
