"Good variety of items. However, the reliance on self-serve checkouts to make purchases doesn't work effectively. I didn't like having to summon a staff member to address the machine after each scan of the self-serve machine to the point that I had to ask the staff member to remain present at the self-serve checkout I was using to complete the scanning. I made a purchase of multiple items (some were large) to the point they couldn't all fit in the "bagging area", and every item needed a staff member to manually override the bagging error message. I couldn't return the items to the trolley due to the trolley having several items remaining in them, and no bags to bag them. I wasn't going to bag porcelain goods anyway. None of the checkouts were staffed. For some odd reason, the checkouts in the centre of the store were closed off. This was around 6 pm on a weeknight."

"Having moved to Townsville just 3 months prior, this Kmart had become our local store, but not anymore. Two staff members personally made it their mission to racially victimize me, a woman of colored descent. Being brought up and raised in Australia, we’ve never experienced such behavior. As I had brought my items to the self checkouts, certain pieces of clothing had hangers attached to them, it’s never been advertised or illustrated hangers are not to be taken out of the store, or anything of such nature. But as I turned my back to grab another plastic bag, the attendant took it upon herself so scavenge through my bag and pull out all the hangers, total of 7-8 hangers. The words exchanged were not in the least bit polite, I had asked if there were any issues regarding me taking the hangers as prior shopping experiences, there’s never been an issue. The two staff members continued, saying the hangers do not come with the clothes, they are to be returned to the ‘returns department’ as they are expecting them, “you shouldn’t have ever been allowed to take them” as the second staff member added “that’s why we have hangers for sale, you should go purchase some”. I asked again if it was ok if I took these hangers, as staff member had held all hangers in hands, she continued to say “no you can’t”. Both staff members ganged up on me, over something like hangers. After speaking with the manager, there was nothing we could do, not a name not a assurance it won’t happen again. To the two ladies who’ve ruined my day, and the experience I’ve had with Kmart, I hope you refrain from subjecting others like you did to me today."

"Can never find a team member, no one wears a uniform anymore. Asked for a price to be discounted on an infants jumpsuit due to it being dirty, and as there were no other sizes, had no choice. Was told "sorry, you might just have to, like, wash it?" I don't go to the shops to to go home to soak someone else's nasty residue off it."
