Welcome to Smithfield Child Care Centre, a community-based, not-for-profit establishment located in the beautiful Cairns Northern Beaches of Australia. Our centre, situated at 80 Cheviot Street, is dedicated to providing high-quality childcare services to families in the Cairns region.

At Smithfield Child Care Centre, we prioritize the well-being and development of each child in our care. Our 61-place facility is divided into four age-specific groups: Infants (0-2 years), Toddlers (2-3 years), Junior Kindy (3-4 years), and Kindy (4-5 years). We ensure a smooth transition between these groups, taking into account factors such as age, development, maturity, and available space. Siblings at our centre also have the opportunity to spend time together throughout the day.

As an approved provider, we offer a Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program for children aged 4 years to school age. This full-time program operates every day, providing a comprehensive early learning experience for our young learners.

Smithfield Child Care Centre follows the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education & Care, which came into effect on January 1, 2012. We also adhere to the Education & Care Services National Law & Regulations (2011) in conjunction with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). This framework ensures that all children at our centre have engaging learning experiences that lay the foundation for lifelong success.

Our centre is guided by three guiding stars: Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships. These values are reflected in all aspects of our service and interactions, creating a nurturing environment for growth and development.

Nestled in an expansive natural setting, our centre provides numerous opportunities for children to explore, experiment, interact, and enjoy daily activities with their peers. We believe in empowering all individuals to be leaders, learners, and teachers, and we value the input and involvement of parents in our curriculum and operations. We keep parents updated on their child's progress through various channels, including learning journals, photos, and our Facebook page.

To ensure convenience for families, we provide a complete nappy service, all linen for sleep and bathing, sunscreen, and mosquito spray. We aim to create a safe, secure environment that focuses on positive outcomes for all individuals, recognizing the importance of play as a valuable means of learning.

Our curriculum is designed to nurture each child's holistic development and is aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework. We strive to maintain high expectations and celebrate the emerging nature of knowledge, skills, and concepts. Our curriculums are informed by professional knowledge, current research, best practices, and personal experiences, offering an enriching experience for all participants.
