Welcome to Palm Cove Jetty, a must-visit establishment and point of interest located on Williams Esplanade in beautiful Palm Cove, Australia. Originally built as a departure platform for Great Barrier Reef cruise vessels, the Palm Cove Jetty has a rich history and offers a unique experience for tourists and locals alike.

The government initially envisioned the jetty as an alternative launching point for visitors staying in Palm Cove, saving them the hassle of traveling all the way to Cairns or Port Douglas. However, due to the constant southeast swells that batter against the jetty, cruise companies have had to change their plans and now offer bus transfers for Great Barrier Reef Cruises instead of jetty transfers.

Despite this change, the locals quickly recognized the potential of the long jetty, which rarely had vessels tied to it, and turned it into a prime fishing platform. In fact, local politicians humorously referred to it as the most expensive fishing platform in the world! Today, fishing remains the main function of the Palm Cove Jetty.

No matter the time or day, you'll find Cairns locals casting their lines into the deep blue waters in hopes of catching Spanish and School Mackerel, small stripeys, grunter, and whiting. The jetty has even witnessed the capture of fish weighing over 50lbs!

It's important to note that motor vehicles, bicycles, and dogs are prohibited from the jetty, ensuring a peaceful and safe environment for both fishermen and visitors. We kindly ask that you respect these rules to maintain the serene atmosphere.
