Reviews of Divers Den
"I had my PADI OW course at Divers Den. The lesson is nice and the pool has warm water! Even though English isn’t my native language, I didn’t have any problems during the course because the instructions were clear and I can discuss with my instructor and classmates anytime. Totally recommend the liveaboard experience on Oceanquest. Nice rooms, delicious food, and of course fantastic Great Barrier Reef. I met lots of solo travelers just like me on the boat, and had such a great time. What surprised me was how amazing the crew was, they had great teamwork and always take care of us. I want to especially shoutout to my instructor Stefan. You are the sweetest, and the most incredible instructor I could ever imagined. I learnt so much about scuba diving and marine life from you, and you were always making sure everyone is confident and safe. Your passion for diving and marine life truly inspires me. Guess I’ll keep on diving and hope that one day I can comeback to GBR again!"
"If six stars rating would be a thing, I’d give it without hesitation. We have just come back from 3 days 2 nights on Ocean Quest completing our Open Water Certificate and a few fun dives and it has been amazing. Ever since we knew we’d come to visit the Reef, getting our license here has been a dream. The whole experience was perfectly organised, from 2 days of class and pool training to the live aboard experience on Ocean Quest. Shoutout to Mitch who has been an awesome instructor looking after all of his students, no matter the level of experience. Ocean Quest is a spacious boat located on the outer reef. The rooms were brilliant, spacious, even including a private bathroom, which considering the size of the vessel and quite a few guests is great. The Food on board has been really nice with breakfast and lunch consisting of a buffet with plenty of options to suit everyone. Dinner is brought to you on plates and dessert has proven to be a nice finish of the day. Good job organising and managing the kitchen on board, especially since everyone is asked about any dietaries or allergies. The dives were absolutely incredible and the reef and its marine life is magnificent. We saw many turtles, sharks, barracudas etc and even a few humpback whales during our trip out to the reef. Due to ocean quest’s fixed schedule, the day might seem a little stressful if you would like to use every possible opportunity of the day for some diving. Adding up to 4 dives a day including a night dive, it is hard to be bored on board due to missing free time. You either eat, dive, or sleep. However the amount of dives a day is up to you of course. For us making the most of those 3 days was perfect, so we literally used every opportunity to hop into the water. Furthermore the staff makes sure no one gets lost or left behind, so checking in and out before any water activities and signing once you’re back is a must. Felt safe the whole time. Thanks to the entire team for making this trip possible and providing such an incredible experience. We will especially miss “Biscuit” and his announcements to the “Ocean Questers”. The best trip I have ever done and memories I will never forget. If you are looking for an overnight stay on the reef for some amazing snorkeling or diving, this is the place to go to!"
"Fantastic day out on the reef. The crew were fun, friendly and above all professional. This was my second ‘introductory dive’ and first with Diver’s Den. As a nervous diver I felt much safer compared with the other tour company, the crew made sure everyone diving was comfortable and understood the safety protocols. The dive/snorkel sites were great, as was the professional photographer (photos cost extra but are worth it for the quality). Thanks team!"
"Too awesome for words! We had the most amazing 4-night Minke Whale expedition with Divers Den, travelling to the Great Barrier Reef’s remote and beautiful Ribbon Reefs in our quest to see Dwarf Minke Whales. Unforgettable experience being in the water with these inquisitive and striking whales, and the wildlife encounter was managed carefully and professionally - all on the whales’ terms. The entire crew were friendly, helpful, passionate about diving and nature and made this one of our all time best trips. A special shout out to the enthusiastic dive and snorkel guides Biscuit, Mossy, Augustin, Nick, Frankie, Hanna superb catering by chef Reice, to Marius who looked after everyone and rest of the crew also. Hats off to the crew for the extra effort to pick up some floating plastic rubbish. Highly recommend this company and crew. Only negative was the air-conditioning was too cold in the cabins but otherwise the cabins were very comfortable and more spacious than anticipated. Altogether a magical experience that was worth every penny – we will cherish it forever."
"Great experience. We went on Ocean Quest to swim with the Minke Whale up north of the Great Barrier Reef. Things that we did not like much were the fact that first we jumped in another boat, Sea Quest, which is smaller and we were too many for a whole morning and two dives. Bags and people were everywhere and it was not comfortable at all. Also, lunch on that boat had no option for vegetarians as the main hot dish were chicken wings. Then, around 2.15pm, with all bags opened and everything wet, we moved to Ocean Quest, bigger and more comfortable and rushed into the water again for the 3rd dive of the day. The schedule would be breakfast at 7am, dive 1, dive 2, lunch at 12pm, rest, dive 3, dinner at 6pm, dive 4, dessert at 8, sleep. It was a bit full on and breakfast and dinner just before a dive was a bit too much. The best thing was the staff. Anna, the supervisor, was super nice and attentive. Dive guides (Mitch, Axel…) were great but it was confusing that we kept swapping guides and too many people in the water. The worst thing for us was without doubt the food. It was tasteless, with no flavour and always the same - stews done with powder that smelled horrible. I read so many reviews about how delicious the food was and for us it was far from delicious. We would eat because after so many dives we were starving but not the meals we were expecting. You should invest a bit more in the food, it is really needed. A part from this, we got to see two Minke Whales and spent 4 days in the GBR which was fantastic."
