"I recently stayed at the Sovereign House and had an incredible time. The owner's friendly and approachable nature made me feel right at home from the start. The bar was a great hangout spot with affordable drinks, a pool table, and a lively atmosphere that encouraged mingling."

"A really great place to stay for your 88 days regional work. The laid back and friendly vibe of the residents I have met during the last 3 months has been amazing , I have made some great friends here. This is a small family run business that has also recently opened up an attached cafe and bar downstairs for residents. The bar is becoming a really great place for us to hang out with the recent addition of a pool table and table tennis. We have had great nights out here when James has organised pizza nights and BBQs . It is not a crazy party hostel but more a place where you can get your 88 days done but still socialise and relax with others. The coffee downstairs in the cafe is tasty and they have great prices on dinners in the bar and lunch at the cafe. The extra staffing James and Emma have recently put in place has ensured the place is pleasant and comfortable. As with all hostels , sometimes short term residents can come for a day or two and leave the place in a mess but Emma and James are always quick to take feedback from us and resolve issues right away so that the place remains clean. The space and circulation of the communal areas has also improved lots since I arrived three months ago due to James redesigning the outdoor kitchens which has made it easier to cook. There is always lots of fresh laundry and towels to use , all you have to do is ask. The location is great - a 3 min walk to the gym, a 15 min walk to woolies and a 25 min walk to the strand. The bus stop is right outside which will take you to the strand in 15 minutes or to the shopping centre in 10 minutes."

"From the first day my friend and I arrived James (owner) had already been reaching out to his contacts in regard to getting us started on our 88 days! The fun and welcoming nature of both the owners and staff has made our past 3 weeks both entertaining and overall just a pleasure. Following the positive start we have agreed to continue on for the full 3 month stay to complete our regional work :) Also having the hostel bar downstairs really helps you socialise with everyone properly and you may even be in with a chance of joining the world class table tennis team we have rustled up. Sov house is a great place to meet like minded people and friends for life. Overall a comfy stay and amazing people!!!"

"Worst hostel ever. There are two kitchens that we can’t actually call « kitchen » there’s nothing to cook with, everything is old and sticky, there’s litteraly not even enough plates or cutlery for the people staying in this hostel. No one cleans the communal areas everything is so dirty I don’t understand that it is $50 a night definitely won’t go there again. I don’t recommend. At least we met nice people there that’s the only good point."

"Stayed for one night, the owner was extremely hospitable and friendly! James gave us loads of info for farm work and things to do around the area. He was extremely helpful! Even gave us a free drink in the cafe when our train got delayed a few hours and let us store our luggage for longer. The check in was also extremely helpful and easy! Definitely recommend!!"
