Welcome to Chill At Portofino, a charming bar, cafe, and restaurant located in the beautiful coastal town of Palm Cove, Australia. Situated at 41 Williams Esplanade, our establishment is not just a place to dine, but a point of interest that offers an exceptional dining experience.
Chill Café was born out of a heartfelt prayer almost fifteen years ago. At a time when life seemed uncertain, the owner, a former Sydney resident, found himself at a crossroads. In late 2009, Cairns was facing the challenges of the Global Financial Crisis, and it was clear that a change was needed. With the support of his wife, Manuela, and her father, Corrado, he took a leap of faith and together they built Chill Café.
The early years were not without their difficulties, as Palm Cove's seasonal nature presented its own set of challenges. However, with grace and determination, the team at Chill Café persevered, taking small steps that gradually strengthened their offering. In 2015, they took a significant leap forward by acquiring the neighboring business, Portobello, and the two adjoining leases. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for Chill Café, as they transformed into Chill at Portofino, a premier beachfront dining destination.
As we enter a new season, free from the restraints of the Covid pandemic, Chill at Portofino is proud to present our new menu. It is a true reflection of our Italian heritage, infused with the flavors and traditions that have shaped our culinary journey. We have carefully curated a selection of dishes that showcase who we truly are, while still embracing the best of Chill Café.

"We had tried brunch and dinner here. Brunch is great. Dinner is a bit hard to say, average but nothing surprising or leaves deep impression."
"The food here is reasonable but the service can be slow and clumsy at times. The coffee is pretty good so a good place to stop in for a morning coffee or cold drink in the afternoon. The place is in need of a good clean and scrub. The cleanliness of the areas you can see, makes you wonder about the cleanliness of the places you can’t."

"Had a beautiful Eggs Benny for our birthday breakfast celebrations! Staff were polite, food was quick and tasted great! Just wish there was a little more on our plates for what we ordered but otherwise we will be back!"
"Based on location and the incredible view, you can’t go wrong. It’s always quite busy, I came just before the dinner rush so my meal was brought quickly. I had the calamari which was clearly freshly made, but a smaller portion could be made. Would say overall high, tourist prices."
