Welcome to SVT Canteen, located at 1 Temple Road, Helensburgh, Sydney, NSW – 2508, Australia. This establishment is not just a restaurant, but also a point of interest and an integral part of the SV Temple community.
Managed by dedicated volunteers, the canteen operates with the sole purpose of supporting the maintenance and projects related to SV Temple. By dining at our canteen, you are directly contributing to the upkeep of this sacred place.
At SVT Canteen, you have the option to either dine-in or take-away. We strive to provide a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience for all our visitors.
In addition to our regular menu, we also offer special items during festive occasions like Visarjan and Jan 1st. Indulge in some delicious ice-cream, chat items, or veg rolls on these special days. Be sure to check our website or communications from the temple for more details and while placing your order.
Furthermore, we accept catering orders for marriages, functions, and events held within our temple premises. If you require our catering services, please reach out to us at canteenmanager@svtsydney.org.
If you are interested in volunteering or need further information, please contact us at the same email address. However, please note that at this time, we do not cater to events outside the temple.
We kindly request all devotees visiting the temple to dispose of any rubbish in the designated bins and clean up their tables before leaving. Your cooperation in maintaining cleanliness is greatly appreciated.

Our opening hours are as follows:
- Public holidays, festival days, Saturdays, and Sundays: 8 AM to 7 PM without a break
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM to 12 PM & 4 PM to 7 PM
- Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays: 10 AM to 4 PM

"Food was fantastic. However took 1:40 hrs just to get to the billing, another 20 mins to get the food In this day and age this is horrible management."
"Temple is amazing, I had been going once every month for one other event or festival or auspicious day. Canteen food prices have risen to beyond the worth and the quality, and quantity has significantly dropped. Not worth the drive if you’re driving there for canteen. The Dosa or Masala Dosa used to be superior among that’s available in Sydney before Covid. Post covid, the Masala in Dosa has become spoonful and Dosa is served thick, undercooked or at times too much roasted like thick crisp papad. I think it will be a lucky dip to get good Dosa. Also, whenever I buy the Sambar rice, the dish appears and tastes as the portion is from bottom of the pot, all residue. Not sure, if, it is so, the dish or always it’s my chance."
"Canteen isn't all it's hyped up to be. Food is subpar, tables are dirty all the time, some of the chairs are broken and service is bad. Worst of all, they charge an unreal amount of money for what they offer. Pathetic."
"+ve: the customers were the best feature of the place, since they tolerated the followings. -ve : Very poorly run canteen. Almost 1.5 hours to get food. Seemed heavily understaffed. -ve: Zero cleanliness as customers need to clean the table. -ve: Not enough tables and chairs, many people were eating outside the canteen area and many of them had to eat while standing. -ve: cost is similar to Sydney. Even water isn’t free, despite being a part of the temple. Giving one star that’s the least I could give, else 0 star!"
