"Beautiful little walk down from the road via a boardwalk path down to the northern end of Moonee Beach. Nice rock platforms to explore, or continue on to the Pink Caves (now closed due to many deaths of inexperienced hikers) or Catherine Hill Bay Pier…"
"One of the loveliest beaches & our second visit. Both times have been exhilarating. Exploring tiny sea creatures, rock formations, the caves, even algae & seaweed. Love every nook & cranny. A must visit"
"It is a amazing hidden beach to visit, it is a bit of a walk to the beach 10 to 15 mins, lovely walk over the rocks or to see the caves but be sure to go at low tide, and lovely place to swim or surf. Just a great place to go for a good walk to explore aswell. Very difficult to get parking as only limited spots available. No facilities to get changed and no toilets nearby. Nice and quiet and great for kids to explore. The walking track at the North end has been closed until 31st July but the sign says you can use an alternative track just south, look out for the sign that says beach access!."
"The beach and rocks are great , but next time I will go the more direct route instead of 6 km round trip from car to northern rocks. The Catherine hill track is rated as grade 2, but is slippery and steep in places. It's basically a fire trail. If you are going to the pink cave make certain that you go at low tide, but even with low tide it can be inaccessible due to swell as it was this trip."
"We had a wonderful time at the Pink caves and the Mooney beach... There was flowing traffic of visitors but the beach didn't get crowded at all on a nice and sunny Sunday, which is why we loved it very much. The only downside is that it didn't have a restroom and we had to take the kids to the Catherine Hill Bay Beach just for rest rooms but it's only a minute drive here. To access the Pink caves, search up Mooney Beach track on Maps.. get down to the beach through path with the sign that says - 'beach access' at the road side parking. Skip the beach for now and get on the rocky path to the left and keep going, you can't miss the caves after around 10 mins. VERY IMPORTANT- Make sure that the tides are low before you take the hike. there are websites to check tides based on location. It's not a difficult walk but hold the hands of little ones if they don't have steady footing. Wear good hiking shoes with strong grip, take a water bottle, sun ban and hats on... It was a treat to see the purple rocks and turquoise waters at the caves."
