About Vinnies Mayfield
Welcome to Vinnies Mayfield, an establishment located at Church Street, Mayfield, Australia. As a point of interest and store, Vinnies Mayfield is part of the St Vincent de Paul Society, a renowned organization that offers over 200 services to help people in need. Our institution has a longstanding commitment to supporting constitutional recognition of Australia's First Nations peoples.
At Vinnies Mayfield, we understand the challenges that families face when they don't have enough money to cover the basics. That's why we provide practical support to ease the pressure and give Australians facing poverty another choice. With a team of more than 45,000 members and volunteers, the St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia works tirelessly to assist those in need and combat social injustice across the country. Internationally, our Society operates in 153 countries and boasts over 800,000 members.
Our institution is guided by a set of values that include loyalty in service to our mission, vision, and values, welcoming and serving all without judgment, and promoting inclusivity regardless of creed, ethnic or social background, health, gender, or political opinions. We strive to establish relationships based on respect, trust, friendship, and perception while working towards transforming the causes of poverty and challenging the causes of human injustice. Additionally, we encourage spiritual growth, welcome innovation, and provide hope for the future.
We are proud to be a nominating organization for the Australian Government's School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI), and we actively seek motivated community-minded individuals to get involved in our programs, events, and services nationwide. Whether you want to volunteer your time, donate resources, or contribute in any other way, your support can make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.
At Vinnies Mayfield, we are committed to speaking out against the causes of poverty and inequality on behalf of the people we assist. We have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of a helping hand. Samantha, for example, has had her life turned around thanks to the support she received from Vinnies, and she and her children now have a bright future ahead of them. Similarly, J, who was injured at a part-time job after being retrenched from his full-time job, and D, who lost her job just before her 64th birthday, found solace and assistance through Vinnies.
As a lay Catholic organization, we are dedicated to creating a more just and compassionate society. We acknowledge that we are on Aboriginal land and pay our respects to all traditional custodians. This website may contain images of deceased members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, which are used with the greatest respect and appreciation.
The St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia Inc., with ABN 50 748 098 845, ARBN 612 807 995, and Charity Number 23838, is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient. Your support can make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need, and we invite you to join us in our mission to create a more compassionate and just society.

Reviews of Vinnies Mayfield
"I purchased a peach-coloured shirt for 8 dollars from this place. I am a mixed-race Australian citizen and I think that Australia is becoming a cold, hard place to inhabit. The racist white old ladies who man the store add to my argument. When I took the shirt to the counter to pay, they said nothing, not one word. Salutations are a form of politeness. Manners are the very fabric of society. Yet white Australians become more inarticulate and illiterate every day. There are bad apples in each batch, but most immigrants are hardworking persons who do not deserve outright racism and discrimination. If you are a person of colour, don't even enter. The selection is threadbare anyway. Rude old broads."
"This Vinnies is SO ridiculously overpriced. New managers come in and they think they can up the prices to create more profits. Australians are hurting hard financially and some of these op shops think that their 100% DONATED goods can be sold at almost retail price. If you really want to help people who are doing it tough lower your prices and make it affordable for EVERYONE. I’m sick of these places acting so greedy. Stop donating to these overpriced places and soon they will realise just how much they rely on the very community that they are ripping off."
"Staff extremely rude. Went there about a week ago to drop off a dozen bags of goods from my late mothers house. Before I even got inside the door they hit me with a list of items they do NOT take. Sorry but I don’t have the time or the energy to sort through the bags for anything that might appear on their “ list”. Will take my stuff elsewhere thanks If the stuff in the bags was good enough for my mother to use then it should be good enough for them. It’s not David Jones!"
"So overpriced! Considering these goods are ALL donated, they charge more like a retail shop than a charity store. Charity store were originally set up to help the vulnerable in society, not charge like wounded bulls."
"Very expensive for donated goods. Tshirt in Kmart for $4. Selling at Vinnie's for $8"
