About the Business
Welcome to King Edward Park, located in Newcastle, Australia. This historic institution has been a beloved establishment since its dedication as a recreation reserve in 1863. As you explore the grounds, you'll be captivated by its rich history and breathtaking beauty.
Within the park, you'll find a variety of attractions and points of interest. The Obelisk, a navigational marker built in 1850, stands proudly alongside a Victorian rotunda, which serves as the focal point of the park. As you wander through the park, you'll be treated to spectacular ocean views, towering Norfolk Island pines, and a vibrant sunken garden that is usually ablaze with color.
Venturing towards the southern boundary, you'll discover the remains of the Shepherds Hill Battery and Gunner's Cottage. These structures were in regular use from 1890 to World War II and offer a fascinating glimpse into Newcastle's military history. Additionally, King Edward Park has ties to the city's penal past, with the Bogey Hole, a convict-hewn ocean bathing pool, nestled at the foot of the eastern cliff face.
King Edward Park is not only a place of historical significance but also a haven for families and outdoor enthusiasts. It is a popular destination for picnics and barbecues, providing a perfect setting to create lasting memories with loved ones. In the summer months, the park transforms into a movie venue, adding an extra touch of magic to your visit. Reviews
"Not the prettiest park but amazing views and walkways around the coast"
"A very nice park with breathtaking views. There is plenty of parking as well. It's pretty close to the bogey hope as well so you park here and then walk down to the hidden gem. There is a lookout spot here as well which offers a great view of the horizon as well as the Newcastle beach towards the left. A spot on place for a nice walk and a swim as well if you wanna go down the bogey hole."
"My favourite spot to watch a sunrise"

"Beautiful park! Someone was getting married across from the formal We were attending. Good access, cute little park for the little kids and the view is amazing. Only problem was not enough parking and had to go around twice and drop my daughter at the stairs"
