Westering Restaurant

"Location is nice and the staff were lovely, albeit out of their depth for a restaurant operating in that price bracket. Paying $60 per head for basic two-course lunch before sides and drinks implies a higher standard than we experienced. Food was ok-to-nice but painfully slow to arrive and half cold when it did, despite the restaurant running at about 30% capacity so far as I could tell. Wines were decent, everyday bottles which I’d generally feel happy to pay $25-30 for from a boutique cellar door, because I’m not shy about supporting local business. To be charged $45-50 for a bottle from cellar door and the restaurant alike on top of forking out premium money for a pretty unremarkable lunch however, left me feeling like I’d been taken advantage of. The place looks like a decent location for a wedding, where the food can get away with being average because people are tipsy from the open bar, and the bill can be inflated because the guests don’t see it. Those things are not so easy to accept however when the business presents as a restaurant. A generous three stars from me. Not terrible, but not what I’d expect for the money."
