Martha Hardy's Kitchen
About the Business
Welcome to Martha Hardy's Kitchen, located at Crafers, Mawson Drive, 1 in Australia. As an establishment, food, point of interest, and restaurant, Martha Hardy's Kitchen is an exciting addition to the Mount Lofty Estate. Whether you are an in-house guest or a visitor to the estate, our new a la carte restaurant warmly welcomes you.
Martha and Arthur Hardy were known for their extravagant lifestyle, often described as "feudal splendour". Martha's love for lavish entertaining delighted guests, who would often find a leg of lamb roasting on the huge spit in the estate kitchen. We pay homage to Martha Hardy's hearty yet elegant cooking style with our a la carte menu, and the signature dish is the slow-cooked lamb. Our Fleurieu Peninsula Lamb Shoulder, braised for 17 hours, is served with caramelised pumpkin puree, confit turnip, heritage carrots, and garlic jus.
Reservations are essential, and Martha Hardy's Kitchen is open 7 days a week. For availability and bookings, please use the link provided on our website. Our opening hours include breakfast exclusively for in-house guests, lunch from 12pm to 3pm, dinner from 6pm, and a traditional Sunday Roast starting at 12pm.
Our menu highlights fresh regional produce, such as Port Lincoln Kingfish, 36 degrees Coonawarra Beef, and Spencer Gulf Prawns. These delectable dishes are accompanied by fresh spring greens and garlic and lemon-infused Kipfler potatoes. Vegetarian options are also available, featuring Adelaide Plains heirloom tomatoes, Ras el hanout roasted Kent Pumpkin, and a cheese platter with a selection of local Adelaide Hills artisan cheeses.
In keeping with the history of Mount Lofty House, Martha Hardy would roast sides of lamb and whole legs of beef in the kitchen during the 1850s. Our traditional Sunday Roast pays tribute to this rich culinary heritage, featuring tender, slow-roasted meats, perfectly roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, and a rich gravy that brings it all together. We source our ingredients from local farmers and suppliers, ensuring the highest quality and ethical standards.
After indulging in a long Sunday lunch overlooking the breathtaking Piccadilly Valley, you can relax by the winter fire pits with a glass of red wine or retreat to our Arthur Waterhouse Lounge for a digestive and a game of Billiards. Martha Hardy's Kitchen offers a truly beautiful way for friends and families to come together and enjoy a memorable dining experience.
We look forward to hosting you at Martha Hardy's Kitchen, where history, tradition, and exceptional cuisine come together to create an unforgettable dining experience.

Reviews
"Stunning views and great service. Enjoyed the sumptuous 2 course Sunday menu. Sachin and his team looked after our table superbly."
"My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here. The food, drink, service and views were excellent. The feel of a cosy, homely restaurant combined with fine dining and complex flavours. We were served by Alwin who was a lovely young man and had great recommendations and an even better attitude - We loved our visit!"
"Excellent service & view, fine wines but the main was terribly disappointing. I ordered crispy skin red snapper (left pic) but got dried and tasteless fish instead (right pic). I’ve had better battered gem fish from Bondi Beach fish & chip shops. Dessert and potatoes were tasty though."
"We ate breakfast here 3 days in a row while staying at the hotel. The a la carte menu was good but also a little limited with no pancakes, for example. The juice was OK, but it would have been better if freshly squeezed. All staff were friendly. Bacon seemed to be cooked through too much (I.e. crispy), which is interesting considering most Australians don't like it this way. Lovely setting in restaurant with beautiful views over the Piccadilly Valley."
"Entree - Scallops and pork belly on top of a bed of pinaple salsa Main - Slow cooked lamb shoulder with veg for 2 Desert - Cheeses paired with dried fruit Add Birthday surprise choc fudge Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Location and views 5/5 Fantastic experience."
