About Emma Smadbeck Psychology
Welcome to Emma Smadbeck Psychology, located at Deakin, King Street, 2 in Australia. Our institution is an establishment that specializes in providing mental health services, particularly for children and adolescents.
Emma Smadbeck, a registered psychologist and clinical psychology registrar, is the driving force behind our institution. Currently working towards a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the ANU, Emma strongly believes in the importance of early intervention for the development of positive mental health later in life.
With a passion for working with children and their families, Emma utilizes evidence-based therapeutic interventions to provide individual, family, and group-based treatments. With over 5 years of experience, Emma has trained at prestigious institutions such as the Sydney Children's Hospital and The Child Behaviour Research Clinic in Sydney, focusing on children with defiant behavior. She is well-versed in collaborating with other professionals and school staff to create holistic treatment plans for her clients.
Emma specializes in working with children and adolescents facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, social skills difficulties, autism spectrum, behavioral issues, sleep problems, acquired head injury, OCD, enuresis, and encopresis. She employs a range of evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and parent training. Emma also incorporates techniques from other therapeutic modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Positive Psychotherapy (PPT) into her practice.
In addition to her clinical work, Emma is actively involved in research. Her PhD research focuses on improving psychological well-being in adolescents through a positive psychology framework. She has presented her research at various conferences in Australia and internationally through the International Positive Psychology Association. Emma integrates her research findings into her therapeutic approach, emphasizing a strengths-based perspective in therapy and treatment.
At Emma Smadbeck Psychology, we are dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based care to children and adolescents, and their families. If you are seeking professional mental health services for yourself or your child, we invite you to contact us to schedule an appointment.
