"I have been a regular at this café for nearly two years as it's conveniently located near my workplace, Harvey Norman. I am familiar with the boss and the employees, but unfortunately, my recent experience was unpleasant. Last week, I ordered an Iced Mocha, but it was served too hot, I politely informed him that it was still too hot, and he apologized for the mistake and made the new one. However, the new one was the same as the previous one. Since he seemed unaware of how to make an iced mocha, I left without saying anything. Today, I visited the café again and ordered an Iced Mocha, but to my disappointment, it was the same situation as before. The boss made a regular mocha and added ice on top of it. I politely pointed out that this was not how it's supposed to be made. However, he yelled at me and asked me how to make it. He rudely said that if I didn't like it, it was fine. If he doesn't know how to make it, he could hire a barista instead of treating his customers poorly. This experience has left me very disappointed, and despite being a regular customer for two years, I will not be returning to the café again."
"My wife & I had occasion to breakfast at Theo's as we had our car attended to nearby one morning in April 2023. Service was friendly & precise, food was hot & well-prepared, actually sumptuous & very fairly-priced. Place was clean & well-maintained. Mr Theo was cordial & friendly. Gave us a melancholic feeling of the milkbars/cafes of old. Inclusion of an old coin-operated jukebox playing softly in the corner would be the ultimate, I reckon. We didn't need lunch after that breakfast. Will seriously consider bringing the family for a near-town day-outing one day ! Ideal for people visiting & working nearby. .............. (4.5-hours later ..... ) So happy with breakfast, we came back for lunch !! Helped along by fact that car wasn't yet ready ! Excellent ! Eddie"
"Theo's cafe is definitely one of Canberra's hidden little gems. You are greeted, you are remembered and you are served professionally in a nice clean environment. Absolute best breakfast in Canberra and great value for money, and the only place around that has Worcestershire Sauce on the table. Have never had a bad coffee here. My favourite place to dine. CAVEAT: I have only had breakfast here, regardless of the time I attend, so cannot comment on the other food which always looks delicious, but know people that order from here daily for lunch orders. Give this place a go, I am positive you won't regret it."
"Ordered lamb shanks with rice and gravy. Believe me, meat cooked to perfection and was succulent. Gravy was perfect with rice. Even asked for extra rice and they gave it with gravy for free. Good people, great food. I work in Tuggeranong but do drive every now and then. It’s worth it."
"Great service, great food and great price. This is a combination that's getting quite hard to find. The $10 plates are generous in size and you can choose from a variety of great tasting options. The food here is a couple of steps above the $15 food court plates. $5 chips gets you a plate that's larger than Nando's seriously large size. Coffee is also on par with some of the better cafes I've been to. Best of all, the service is consistently friendly, which unfortunately is very hard to find these days."
