Reviews of Rydges Canberra
"Great location, only 5 minutes walk from where I work in Canberra. The room is spacious but the layout could have been better with the TV sitting on top of the cabinet with the minibar followed by the desk, then on the opposite side of the room is a couch, but the couch is opposite the desk, so the TV is at an angle. I also had an issue using my mouse on the desk as it has a glass top, so an optical mouse won't work. Luckily I had a large serviette that I could use."
"Room clean and functioning. Service by in room staff not welcomed and felt uneasy about them going through my stuff. Reasonable Wait to check in despite obviously something wrong with my leg and uneasy to stand (broken bones). Breakfast a horrible rip off $34 is ONLY choice. Eggs scrambled, cold and no taste. Bacon cold. Coffee horrendous, tea you can’t get a hot one. No real Options for a hot drink. Toast is like very mildly warm bread. breakfast don’t do it to yourself, go elsewhere. Pillows super worse pillows ever, would benefit from contemporary pillow menus. There is NOTHING close to this hotel. I recommend only as last resort as rooms are clean at least."
"Great location, and a modern feel. Friendly staff. Check-in was great. As a dad travelling with his son, I spent less than 5 minutes at the check-in desk. This was ideal and perfect. The room is well-furnished and very modern. I do wish however the TV was slightly bigger (for families) and the bar fridge was slightly bigger. But, I understand these locations are normally used by politicians and people who choose to wine and dine after a day at an art gallery. So this is by no means a deal breaker. Parking is $15 per night. I know to some this is no major issue but for families, it can be. I understand why facilities charge for parking but I do wish I had known about this before check-in. That's on me. My only other issue is the fact I couldn't find a price list for the drinks and food in the room. I know these would cost a small fortune but it's nice to know the cost anyway. This is my first time staying at Rydges and I am thoroughly impressed. The review was from October 2022"
"Terrible. Don't stay here. I couldn't sleep there was no cool air coming from the air conditioner but the loud noise it made prevented us from sleeping. The room was disgustingly hot. My 3 children and I received 2 towels in our room and we had to beg for more towels especially pool towels. We were also given 2 bars of soap for 4 people. The restaurant was below average. The breakfast was terrible. Actually it was the worst food I've ever had and there were Fruit flies over it. The rooms are extremely dated. The fold out sofa bed that my son was provided was not level, it had a big dip in the middle, it looked like it was an original piece of furniture, it looked so used that it made me physically ill at the thought of how many people had used it. It's not worth the money to stay here. Staff were just going through the motions not one of them showed any skills in customer service. We won't be back and I truly believe that the staff at the Rydges don't care."
"The hotel is located in a very convenient location, the in door swimming pool is nice. The room is clean, but the facilities inside are not really up to the standard, including a very old TV that does not allow connecting with other devices, the shaking coffee table and the electric sockets are put in a very low position that stick to the floor, etc. Besides, the food of the buffet breakfast is still ok, but is under staffs and no one clean and refill cutlery. Furthermore, the Easter egg hunt is a disaster, there is no instructions or age limitation, some of the participants were older than 15 years old and use a box to collect most of the chocolate eggs without manner, which made many young kids felt very discouraging, no staffs at all to try to regulate the situation. In summary, this hotel is good for business trip, but family vacation should be avoided."
