"This is my experience with Appliance King the past week or so following my purchase of three appliances from them in May (I am one month out of warranty). I moved into a new place in May, and bought a fridge, a microwave and washing machine from Appliance King (Approx. $1,000 respectively). Within the past two weeks, first the microwave broke – it started sparking up inside and emitting smoke. I copped this one, and knowing I only spent $50 on the microwave, I didn’t bother following up and wrote it off (I really shouldn't have) The issue is with the washing machine I purchased from them. Which unfortunately has completely stopped working conveniently a month out of warranty. I have spoken with the owner and provided pictures of the machine and the error code it comes up with (pictures attached – because this is important – the error code is something that predates our purchase – we were purposely sold an appliance with issues prior to us buying it). The options given to me are what you would expect. But still I am upset. They said they could order in the part and fix it (at a cost of $189), or I could buy another washing machine from them at a discounted price. Which I refused to do – they are trying to get more money from me and I simply cannot afford to keep up this cycle of buying broken appliances from them without any guarantee of it working – and am honestly astonished by their response which makes me think this is a common occurrence. This is something I will be following up with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) as the legislation does cover Appliance King – and this needs to be investigated, it’s too easy for these places to get away with this behavior. By offering next to nothing warranties, having their appliances break and washing their hands of any wrongdoings by hiding behind their warranty and pocketing peoples money. This is a cautionary story for future consumers wishing to purchase from here. If you are like me, you will end up hundreds of dollars out of pocket and have to purchase a new machine in the end. Please save yourself the money – I’ve learnt from my mistake and am paying through the nose for it and I really hope I can help someone else not make the wrong choice."
