Australasian Council of Deans of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities
About the Business
Welcome to the Australasian Council of Deans of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (DASSH). Located at Deakin, Geils Court, 1, our institution is a point of interest and a university, offering a wide range of educational opportunities in the arts, social sciences, and humanities.
We are thrilled to announce that the Hon Dr Anne Aly, Federal Minister for Early Childhood Education and Minister for Youth, will be delivering a keynote address at the DASSH Conference. Dr Aly will speak about the transformative potential of education in the age of the Universities Accord. This is an exciting opportunity to gain insights from an esteemed government official.

We are pleased to introduce the new Special Interest Group Leaders of the Network of Associate and Deputy Deans - Associate Professor Gail Crimmins, Associate Professor Sandra Phillips, and Professor Craig Batty. Led by Convenor Professor Andrea Rizzi, the Network has been revitalized thanks to the energy of its members. It serves as a valuable platform for networking and collaboration.
The Australian Universities Accord Interim Report has highlighted five priority recommendations for immediate action, with the government committed to their implementation. The report also identifies over 70 areas for consideration in the final report. These recommendations align with the vision and ambition put forward in the Universities Accord.
DASSH Members have shared their long-term vision for the higher education sector as part of the Universities Accord consultation process. To further support this vision, we are collating practical suggestions that will bring about meaningful change. In July, around 25 DASSH Members gathered in Melbourne to contribute their ideas.
DASSH represents over 300 Deans, Associate and Deputy Deans from universities across Australia and New Zealand (Aotearoa). Our members lead schools that cater to over 100,000 students and numerous researchers in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities. We advocate for our disciplines, conduct research, engage with government, and foster collaboration with colleagues both locally and internationally. DASSH serves as a hub for members, providing networking opportunities and professional development events throughout the year.
