About the Business
Welcome to Providore Restaurant, located at 38 David Street in Turner, Australia. As an establishment that focuses on food and is a point of interest in the area, we take pride in offering a unique dining experience that showcases the best of Polish cuisine.
Situated in the heart of Canberra, the nation's capital, Providore Restaurant is part of the Polish White Eagle Club, a social club that has been serving the local community, both Polish and non-Polish, for over 50 years. Our mission is to provide delicious food and beverages, along with live music, theatre, and dance, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere for all.
What sets us apart from other establishments is our commitment to being 100% pokie-free. We are proud to be the first club in Canberra to remove gambling from our premises, allowing us to focus on fostering a sense of culture and community. Our facilities are now filled with a growing network of community and recreational groups in the ACT, utilizing our space for various activities.
Our building, Nicholas Copernicus House, is a true architectural gem designed by the late renowned architect Dr Enrico Taglietti. Built by the Polish community, it was officially opened in February 1973 by Cardinal Karol Wojtyla, who later became Pope John Paul II, during his visit to Australia. Since then, our establishment has been continuously operating, preserving its rich history and heritage.
When you visit Providore Restaurant, you can expect to indulge in modern Polish cuisine, which combines traditional flavors with a contemporary twist. We offer a wide selection of craft beers from Poland and the Baltic States, as well as an extensive collection of vodkas from the 'old country' and the nations of the 'vodka belt'. Our aim is to provide an authentic taste of Poland right here in Canberra.
We are open from Wednesday to Saturday, with dinner service starting at 6.00pm. Whether you're looking for a romantic evening, a gathering with friends, or a special occasion, Providore Restaurant is the perfect choice. We also cater to private functions and events, which can be arranged by appointment.
Experience our old world hospitality and immerse yourself in the flavors and traditions of Poland at Providore Restaurant. We look forward to welcoming you and creating memorable dining experiences that celebrate Polish culture and cuisine.

"Would I come back here? . . . I'm not sure... The food was a bit average but the service was attentive. It was quite loud in there. Kinda smooshed up against others. But they have a lot of live music and the perogi was good. The beer was yummy. I'm intrigued about trying the blueberry dumplings, so I would come back for that. Kinda wished I got something other than schnitzel."
"Not fancy, being a typical cultural club, but the food was good value, delicious and, to the best of my knowledge, authentically Polish."
"Love the food here! It's so unique as we don't get to eat Polish food very often. Make sure you book ahead to avoid disappointment as seats are limited. Yours truly @fooderarri"
"Top resto, Polo Restaurant, in an most interesting building. It's a gem, fun menu (see attached menu photo) very reasonably priced with generous servings, and for a change, lots of younger people at this Club."
"Fantastic authentic experience, delicious hearty food and Polish beer selection"
