Malaysia Hall Sydney (MHS) was originally a motel called 'Randwick House Motel' before being purchased by the Malaysian government on June 20, 1975. This strategic location was chosen due to its proximity to various educational institutions such as TAFE Randwick, the University of New South Wales, and schools. Additionally, our location offers easy access to public transportation, with bus stops right in front of our gate, allowing you to explore the city and other parts of Sydney with ease.

The opening ceremony of Malaysia Hall Sydney took place on May 28, 1976, with His Excellency Dr. Awang Hassan, the Malaysian High Commissioner for Australia, officiating the event. Our first appointed warden was Mr. Lim Kok Choo, supported by Mr. Terrence Teh for the night shift.

Our records show that the first registered resident of Malaysia Hall was Mr. Anuar Kassim, who stayed with us temporarily on December 19, 1975, while studying engineering at the University of Western Australia in Perth. At that time, Malaysia Hall was open to both Malaysian students and non-students, with special conditions for non-students to qualify for accommodation.
