About the Business
Welcome to Cygnet Clinic, a leading institution for mental health services in Australia. Located in Midland, Keane Street, 6, our clinic is comprised of a team of Perth Psychologists and Psychiatrists who are dedicated to excellence in clinical practice.
At Cygnet Clinic, we offer a range of services to cater to the diverse needs of our clients. Whether you prefer in-clinic consultations or telehealth appointments, we are here to provide the support you require. If you are in need of urgent help, simply follow the link on our webpage.
As one of the largest clinics of its kind in Western Australia, Cygnet Clinic has been established from a group of highly trained and experienced private practitioners recruited nationally. Our core group of clinicians has been practicing in the Midland and Fremantle areas for over a decade, ensuring that you receive the highest quality care from professionals who truly understand your needs.
The name "Cygnet" was chosen as a reflection of the Swan area where our main office is located. Just like a young swan, we believe in growth, transformation, and the pursuit of excellence in mental health care.
Medicare based referrals cover the majority of our fees, making our services accessible to a wide range of individuals. However, please note that as a private practice, we do not offer any bulk-billed services. To access our services, we recommend consulting your General Practitioner for a referral under Medicare for both Psychology and Psychiatry services.
Our team of practitioners is highly experienced in treating a wide range of Psychological conditions, including Major Depression, Anxiety, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and specific behavioural problems in children. We have carefully selected our clinicians based on their special interests and expertise, ensuring that you receive personalized and effective treatment.
All our practitioners are Consultant Psychiatrists or postgraduate trained Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologists, holding a minimum of 6 years of university training. Some of our clinicians even hold Doctoral or PhD degrees, with up to 12 years of training. With such extensive training and expertise, we are well-equipped to handle complex referrals and provide evidence-based practice.
In addition to Medicare referrals, we also accept referrals under Workers' Compensation and Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance. We believe in continuous improvement and value your feedback. We encourage clients to provide feedback, whether anonymous or otherwise, so that we can continually enhance our service to the community.
At Cygnet Clinic, we believe in a multidisciplinary approach to mental health care. We believe that a General Practitioner is best able to meet their patients' mental health needs through a team-based arrangement. Depending on your specific needs, an individualized patient-centred plan may be created, matching you with the Mental Health support required. Some patients may only require a Psychologist, while others may benefit from the expertise of a Psychiatrist. In some cases, both professions may work together to provide comprehensive care.
Our team of Psychologists are experts in providing assessment and therapy for a range of conditions. They have undergone a minimum of 6 years of university training, including a registrar period for those with endorsed titles.
On the other hand, our Consultant Psychiatrists are Medical Doctors with further specialist training in mental health. One main difference between Psychiatrists and Psychologists is that Psychiatrists can prescribe medications, while Psychologists do not.

Reviews
"This clinic deserves 0 stars. It has attempted to remove my previous review because I exposed them for their unethical behaviour, and for the fact that they prioritise profits over patients' well-being. A couple of years ago I was seeing Jason Sharbanee on a regular (fortnightly) basis. Unfortunately he turned out to be a grossly unethical psychologist. One Monday morning I found myself in an extremely distressed state as a consequence of the treatment meted out to me after I was unable (due to circumstances beyond my control) to attend my appointment with Jason. I was shocked and appalled to discover that I'd been unfairly charged a cancellation fee. For Jason to instruct (authorise) a cancellation fee was not only wrong, it was an extremely cruel and insensitive way to treat a very vulnerable and sick person. I had contacted the Cygnet Clinic (around 7 am) on Monday as soon as it was obvious that I was too sick to attend my scheduled appointment. Therefore, it was totally inappropriate in this case for a cancellation fee to be charged. For obvious reasons, no-one can ensure that all unanticipated events happen at least 24 hours prior to their scheduled appointment. That would be a palpably absurd assumption! Therefore, there will always be occasions, such as the one that occurred with myself, when the requisite 24 hours notice cannot be given. (In addition, even if the unanticipated event happened 24 hours prior to the appointment on say a Saturday, the Clinic would still not be able to be notified of the cancellation until Monday morning). Jason chose to act in a thoughtless, appalling manner with total disregard for myself as a person or my circumstances. This upset me greatly, causing me acute distress and untold long term harm. The Managing Director (Rachael Williams) of the Cygnet Clinic also behaved in an appalling manner and refused to apologise or reverse the cancellation fee. I’m sure I don’t need to tell Jason/the Cygnet Clinic that the relationship between a Clinical Psychologist and their patient is based on sensitivity, empathy and trust. In dealing with me in such an uncaring and dismissive way, they failed to demonstrate any of these traits. (Despite the response from the Clinic, the fact remains that they never apologised or reversed the cancellation fee)."
"Pam deserves free barista-made coffee on the daily!! A beautiful human being with genuine compassion and untold patience. Her generosity of spirit knows no bounds. Thank you Pam, I’m sure I am not alone with my admiration! Cygnet are located in an easily accessible building, close to public transport and midland gate. Though their fees may seem high at first glance, patients end up with minimal out of pocket loss as your Medicare card enables them to process your rebate within 24 hours."
"Had a terrible time with a psychologist on my two sessions on Saturday, she could care less about helping. I left a previous review, but thought to message Cygnet directly with the issues brought up. I never received a response. - Katelyn"
"Cygnet Midland and Jason Sharbonee have provided me with extensive one on one psychology that have provided life changing results. I was in desperate need specialist care and pleased to say the whole experience from walking through the doors and even telephone support has been amazing TINA"
"I have tried to book appointments for myself and my son at various points over the last six months. Psychologists we would like to see have appointments available to book on line, ring the clinic to book be told no female Psychologists are taking on new clients at all unless I would like to be seen as a private full fee paying patient. Do not advertise that you accept a mental health care plan appointments if you are not able to offer an appointment at any time during a six month period. What an absolute joke! You are still getting $195 per appointment regardless of private patient or care plan the only difference is you have to wait a week for Medicare to process the rebate, Money hungry clinic!"
