"Purchased a blow up costume at 2.35pm Monday 12th September, arrived home to find the battery pack/fan was broken rendering the costume useless and unusable for my event on the 13th September. Arrived at the store at 9am on the 13th too exchange or refund the costume to be told the costume must be sent away too be assessed that it didn't work and even after explaining my event was that night there was nothing they could do. I informed them that a refund would then be preferred as under consumer law products purchased must do as intended, match the description and be fit for purchase. Which this costume was not. On the 14th approx 11am an email came from 'Eva' saying the fan would be replaced and no refund would be given. I expressed my disappointment, and pointed out the law. I was basically told too bad. Eva has since ignored every email sent and remains at this time very unprofessional. I have now reported Costmeland too ACCC and South Australian consumer and business affairs, which if I do not receive any reply or willingness to sort this issue, they will proceed to act on my behalf and if they are also not able too help then court will be arranged. Reading reviews this is not the first time this has happened and I very much think people need to proceed with caution when shopping at these stores. I've only had present service from 1 staff member, and the one who served me on the Tuesday morning is rude and awful to deal with. Time they didn't get away with breaking the consumer laws."
"Recently bought a wizard robe at the wrong size and when I went to exchange for a different size they refused due to "store policy". The packet hadn't been opened and is 100% saleable. Outrageous. Will not return to this store."
"Our first and last visit happened today! Looking for a costume for my 10yr old today and witnessed a screaming match between a customer and staff member. I understand the staff member was sick of people asking for returns and the way the customer spoke was no better but when we could hear the screaming from the back of the store leaving my daughter scarred we ended up slowly making our way out the store and purchasing at Spotlight."
