"I recently had the pleasure of dining at Donto Sapporo Japanese Restaurant, and the overall experience was a delight. The food itself was a standout with fresh and delectable ingredients that satisfied my taste buds. The menu offered a wide variety of authentic Japanese dishes, each prepared with care and precision. From the flavorful sashimi to the savory tempura, every dish showcased the quality of their ingredients. However, I must admit that getting the staff's attention proved to be a bit challenging. Although the food was excellent, the service fell short as it was difficult to reach the staff when we needed assistance. Nevertheless, once they did attend to us, they were polite and helpful. During the winter season, the restaurant's ambiance took a slight dip as some patrons didn't properly slide the entrance door shut, causing a chill to creep in. While it can be understandable with many guests coming and going, it did affect the overall dining experience. Despite these minor setbacks, Donto Sapporo Japanese Restaurant's food was undoubtedly the highlight. The freshness and quality of the ingredients shined through, making each bite a delightful experience. If you're a fan of authentic Japanese cuisine and don't mind the occasional wait for service, I highly recommend trying Donto Sapporo Japanese Restaurant. Just be mindful of the chilly winter breeze if you find yourself seated close to the entrance."
"Foods were good in general. We loved the sashimi platter very much! Service was just fair. More attentive and cheerful service would be expected."
"We went there for a 70’s birthday dinner. The attitude of the young waitress was not very nice and wired. We are 5 adults and 1 kid. We order a sukiyaki for 2 people ($65), one pork tonkasu set ($52) one Ungai set ($65), and some sushi. We did not order for the kid but waitress said we need order 1 food for everyone. The sets were $52-65 and were over price. Pork tonkasu was dry. Eel was ok. The sushi was terrible and can tell from the picture. The sukiyaki was tooooo salty. Did not have a good experience and don’t think will come back."
"only looks good we ordered the deluxe sapporo set and regular chirashi bowl everything tastes too sweet- esp unagi and the chawanmushi the sashimi on the chirashi isn’t very fresh (but not spoiled that it makes you sick). even if it’s before an easter long weekend I don’t think it should be an excuse for subpar quality of food. also feel like they serve the “scrap” version (the cheaper chirashi bowl and the sashimi on the set) also not cheap (avg ~$35 without drinks. lunch price)"
"Amazing dishes!! Blue-fin tuna was so delicious! Felt as if I went back to Japan. All the staff are very kind, friendly and attentive. Japanese sake they offer are also excellent and very reasonable. Definitely a recommended Japanese restaurant on the coast as a Japanese myself."
