While your home and contents insurance policy may offer some coverage for your boat, it often only applies when the boat is stored at your home location. For example, Allianz's home contents insurance policy covers non-motorised watercraft less than 3m in length, but not when the boat is in use. In the unfortunate event of a claim, Club Marine will pay the reasonable cost of replacing the damaged item to its pre-loss condition. If you have a 10-year-old motor, your claim will cover the cost to replace it. However, if it's replaced with a brand new motor, you may be asked to contribute the difference. We will always inform you of any applicable contribution before proceeding with the replacement, settlement, or repairs.

We also offer the option to add lay-up months, which can reduce your insurance premium by 5% for each month you nominate. Lay-up refers to the months when you're not using your boat, such as during winter, and it's stored in an enclosed garage, shed, or behind walls, gates, or fences. During lay-up, your boat is still covered for fire, theft, and storm damage at the storage location. It also covers the boat while being transported to or from a dealer or service center for regular servicing and maintenance.

When it comes to the value of your boat, we offer two options: Market Value and Agreed Value. With Market Value, the payout may be less than the amount shown on the schedule, as it is based on the actual value of the boat at the time of the loss. On the other hand, with Agreed Value, the payout is based on the agreed-upon value between you and Club Marine, although evidence may be required to confirm the reasonableness of the proposed value.
