Australian Respiratory Early Surveillance Team
About the Business
Welcome to the Australian Respiratory Early Surveillance Team for Cystic Fibrosis (AREST CF), located in the beautiful city of Perth, Western Australia. Our institution is dedicated to promoting healthier lives for children with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic condition that affects the respiratory system.
AREST CF is a collaboration of specialist paediatric cystic fibrosis centers in Perth and Melbourne. Our team consists of over 60 dedicated professionals, including doctors, researchers, scientists, research management, and students. Together, we are committed to improving respiratory health and outcomes in children with cystic fibrosis.
Our program focuses on the assessment, treatment, and prevention of cystic fibrosis lung disease in young children. We firmly believe that by intervening early in life and preventing lung disease, individuals with cystic fibrosis can live longer and more fulfilling lives.
Led by renowned paediatrician and cystic fibrosis researcher, Professor Steve Stick, our team is at the forefront of discovering new treatments to prevent lung disease, improve quality of life, and extend the lifespan of people with cystic fibrosis. Professor Stick believes that individuals with CF are dying too young and that it is our responsibility to fix this. Through ongoing research and innovation, we strive to make a difference in the lives of those affected by this condition.
One living example of the value of medical research is Dr. Ingrid Laing. When she was born, her parents were told she would be lucky to make it to 20. However, thanks to significant advancements in medical research, Ingrid is still here today, 42 years later. Now a respiratory researcher at The Telethon Kids Institute, Ingrid is dedicated to increasing the life expectancy of children born with cystic fibrosis.
You can find our institution located at the Telethon Kids Institute Northern Entrance, within the Perth Children's Hospital in Nedlands. Our address is 15 Hospital Avenue, Nedlands, Western Australia, 6009.
If you or your loved one is affected by cystic fibrosis, we encourage you to reach out to us and learn more about our services and research efforts. Together, we can work towards a brighter future for children with cystic fibrosis, promoting healthier lives and improved outcomes.
