The Children's Forest is a unique place where children can learn about and appreciate the importance and beauty of Western Australia's native bushland. It serves as a living link with the earth, allowing children to witness the growth and flourishing of 'their' forest alongside their own personal development.
Entry to the Children's Forest is absolutely free, and we encourage children, along with their friends and family, to explore, enjoy, and discover the many wonders it has to offer. From giant marching ants to colorful birds, peeking possums, and even a life-size wedge-tailed eagle's nest made of steel, there is no shortage of fascinating sights to behold. Keep an eye out for the Forest's 'guardians', the Boy of the Bush and his sister Fern, who watch over this enchanting place.
To enhance your experience, we have created a range of activity sheets for you to enjoy. These sheets will guide you through all eighteen stages of the Children's Forest, allowing you to spot and learn about the diverse flora and fauna that call this place home. You can also discover hidden artworks and gain a deeper understanding of our native bushland.
The Children's Forest was born out of the vision of new parents associated with Men of the Trees (now known as Trillion Trees). Their aim was to provide a living connection to nature for their children. This idea quickly expanded, inviting families to contribute to the planting of a forest that all children could share. The first stage was planted in 2001, and since then, the Forest has grown with the participation of more children becoming Children's Forest members. Each new stage is planted with native seedlings, and members can even look for their personalized tiles in the three huts along the Children's Forest path, creating a special bond with this unique place that connects the Village to Mussel Pool.
Today, the Children's Forest boasts 18 stages of growth, with the final stage planted in 2018. Every visit provides an opportunity to witness how the bushland evolves and changes over time, showcasing the beauty and resilience of Western Australia's natural environment.
Don't miss the chance to see incredible wildlife in the Children's Forest, such as the Southern brown bandicoot or quenda (Bettongia penicillata), as well as the stunning blush form of the firewood banksia (Banksia menziesii). These images alone hint at the wonders that await you in this magical place.
Come and immerse yourself in the Whiteman Park Children's Forest. Discover, learn, and appreciate the native bushland of Western Australia alongside your loved ones.

Reviews of Whiteman Park Children's Forest
"Not wheelchair friendly off road tracks bog badly. Soft sand. No dogs allowed. Confusing where tracks go. Easy to get lost. Occasional sculpture hidden randomly. Warning some toys broken and very sharp edges."
"Fenced and gated to keep kangaroos and larger animals out this lovely area within Whiteman Park is perfect for a walk around an Australian native bush. During our visit we did see a couple of smaller native animals, I think they were bandicoots."
"Has everything you need to have a great day out."
"Took wife, daughter and our little Chug. Pleasant atmosphere. Wasn't busy. Absolutely perfect weather, for Mother's day. We saw some more numbered posts and walkways, we hadn't seen, on previous visits. Saw a lot of Kangaroos, too."
"Really nice and relaxing place to bring your kids. The walk was fun with lots of different paths to choose and interesting things to see. Highly recommended for a stress free kiddy adventure"
