Bold Park
Perry Lakes Drive, City Beach, Western Australia, Australia
About Bold Park
Welcome to Bold Park, a world-class urban wilderness located in City Beach, Australia. This impressive establishment was declared an A-class reserve in 1998, recognizing its high conservation, landscape, and recreation values. Managed by the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority, Bold Park covers an expansive 442 hectares of the Swan Coastal Plain, making it one of the largest remaining bushland remnants in the area.
Bold Park is a haven for biodiversity, boasting over 1000 species of native and non-native flora, fauna, and fungi. Within its boundaries, you will discover more than 300 different local native plants, including priority and regionally significant species. Despite its proximity to the city, the park is teeming with wildlife, from birds and reptiles to amphibians and invertebrates. In fact, nearly 500 species of macrofungi have been documented here.
Sir David Attenborough once described Bold Park as an invaluable refreshment for the spirit, allowing city dwellers to connect with wild animals and plants. It truly offers a taste of wilderness close to Perth. Explore the park's network of walking trails and be treated to breathtaking views from Reabold Hill, the highest natural point on the Swan Coastal Plain in the metropolitan area.
Conveniently located near one of Perth's popular coastal beaches, Bold Park is easily accessible by private vehicle or public transport. Once you arrive, you'll find several visitor carparks and numerous walking trails to embark on your adventure.
Please note that Bold Park is primarily an undeveloped bushland conservation area with limited visitor facilities and services. If you wish to conduct an event or organized group activity, prior written permission from the Authority is required. Additionally, the Western Australian Ecology Centre, located on Perry Lakes Drive, Floreat, is open by appointment only.
Don't miss the opportunity to visit Reabold Hill, where you can enjoy spectacular views of Perth. The raised boardwalk, designed for disabled access, offers a unique bushland experience as you make your way to the summit.
Bold Park also holds significant cultural history, dating back to the early 1800s. Several sites within the park are considered historically significant to Western Australians.
If you're passionate about conserving Bold Park and promoting its values, consider joining the Friends of Bold Park. This dedicated group of volunteers participates in regeneration projects, raises community awareness, and provides free guided walks, showcasing the park's incredible biodiversity, geology, and conservation efforts.
We look forward to welcoming you to Bold Park, where nature and history intertwine in a truly remarkable setting.
Reviews of Bold Park
"This place is still a hidden gem! How doesn't everyone know about it?? It offers many trail options. Stunning views over the city and the ocean. Save yourself the big drive out to the hills for your trail walk - just come here! Dog friendly if they're on a lead. Park near the Perry Lakes oval. Note : no toilet facilities or fresh water available on the trails."
"Absolutely beautiful park with many beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding suburbs. Very nice walking trail with plenty of options."
"Great work out, walking or jogging up the hill. Fantastic views of Perth city and ocean views."
"Great park in the middle of Perth suburbia with views to the city and sea at various lookouts. A popular destination for "bush walking." The park is managed by the Kings Park Board. Staff/park rangers do a daily drive on all open walking paths to ensure the paths are safe to traverse. Highly recommended."
"I love this park! It has several walking trails and it is home to a wonderful variety of plants and animals."
