Metro South Sexual Health Service
About the Business
Welcome to Metro South Sexual Health Service, located at 199 Ipswich Road, Woolloongabba, Australia. As a trusted establishment in the health sector, we are a point of interest for individuals seeking comprehensive sexual health care.
At Metro South Sexual Health Service, we prioritize your privacy and confidentiality. Our clinic offers testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in a discreet and professional manner. Our clinics operate by appointment only, with flexible options to accommodate your schedule. Whether you require a doctor or nurse, we have a dedicated team ready to provide high-quality care.
For individuals without symptoms and not in need of treatment, we offer 15-minute express clinic appointments for quick and efficient screening. If you require an interpreter during your appointment, please inform us when booking, and we will gladly assist you.
In some cases, a referral from your general practitioner (GP) may be necessary. Our staff will be happy to discuss this requirement with you when you call to make an appointment. If our services are not suitable for your specific needs, we can help you find alternative clinics that provide the necessary services.
Please note that we do not offer a walk-in service. To schedule an appointment, please call us at (07) 3176 5881. Our dedicated nurses will guide you through the booking process, ensuring you are matched with the appropriate healthcare professional. If you prefer a female or male nurse or doctor, please let us know, and we will accommodate your preference. Additionally, we can arrange for a telephone interpreter if needed. If we are unable to answer your call, kindly leave a clear message on our answering service, and we will promptly return your call.
Some appointments may require a letter from your doctor. If you have already undergone tests or received treatment from your doctor, please contact us at (07) 3176 5881 for further instructions.
During your 30-minute appointment with our Sexual Health Nurse or Doctor, a genital exam may be necessary. Rest assured, we prioritize your comfort and will ensure you feel at ease throughout the examination. If you would like a support person present during the exam, please inform the nurse or doctor.
Regular sexual health tests are crucial if you are sexually active, as some infections can reside in the throat or anus. It is recommended to undergo testing even if you do not experience any STI symptoms. Many individuals choose to have a test when starting or ending a relationship.
If you are diagnosed with an infection, it is important to refrain from engaging in sexual activity with others until you have completed treatment and received confirmation that the infection has cleared. We will schedule your treatment appointment, and most treatments are provided free of charge at our clinic.
We proudly welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to our service. Our clinics are situated on the ancestral lands of the Yugambeh, Quandamooka, Jaggera, and Ugarapul People.
We understand that sexual health testing for individuals who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Queer (LGBTIQ ) can be challenging and potentially discriminatory. At Metro South Sexual Health Service, we provide a safe and confidential space to discuss your sexual health concerns. We respect your sexuality, gender identity, and preferred pronouns.
For additional support and information, the Queensland Council for LGBTI Health and organizations like QUAC and Scarlett Alliance - Australian Sex Workers Association offer valuable resources and assistance.
We also engage with groups that provide services for young people, offering educational sessions on sexual health. If you require non-urgent health advice, you can call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84).
At Metro South Sexual Health Service, we acknowledge and respect the traditional land owners of Australia. We extend a warm welcome to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to our service. To learn more, please read our Statement of Commitment to Reconciliation.
Contact us today at (07) 3176 5881 to book your 30-minute appointment or to obtain your Sexual Health Certificate of Attendance.
