About the Business
Welcome to Boombana, a captivating establishment nestled in the breathtaking D'Aguilar National Park, just a stone's throw away from the vibrant city of Brisbane. As a point of interest and a renowned tourist attraction, Boombana offers an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
Prepare to be inspired as you embark on a journey through the diverse environments and stunning plant communities that make up D'Aguilar National Park. From open eucalypt woodlands to enchanting subtropical rainforests, this park boasts an impressive array of over 800 plant species, including some that are rare and threatened.
The park's cool mountain tops and forest flats create a rich and varied habitat for an abundance of wildlife. Immerse yourself in the mountain climate, where ferns and mosses thrive, and catch a glimpse of the elusive giant barred frogs and spiny crayfish in the crystal-clear mountain streams. At night, witness the lively activity of yellow-bellied gliders and short-eared possums in the towering open forest. Keep your eyes peeled for the vulnerable powerful owl, a resident predator that preys on small animals such as possums and snakes. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the opportunity to spot bowerbirds, wompoo fruit-doves, bell miners, and the majestic yellow-tailed black-cockatoos that grace the forest with their presence.
For an up-close encounter with the remarkable native animals of the region, a visit to the Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre is a must. This comprehensive complex features a visitor information centre, wedding centre, café, and Wildlife Centre, where you can marvel at the incredible wildlife that calls this area home.
At Boombana, we are committed to preserving the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the D'Aguilar Range. We kindly ask that visitors adhere to guidelines aimed at caring for the park and its wildlife. This includes practicing proper sanitation and hygiene in areas without provided toilets and refraining from polluting the natural water supplies.
As part of our dedication to conservation, the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service diligently manages D'Aguilar National Park under the Nature Conservation Act 1992, ensuring the protection and presentation of its remarkable natural and cultural values for generations to come. We also actively monitor special management areas where foliage harvesting activities are allowed until 2024, ensuring the maintenance of these values.
For further information and assistance, the Brisbane Visitor Information and Booking Centre is readily available to provide tourism information for all regions in Queensland. Additionally, the Brisbane City Council can offer insights into the nearby Mt Coot-tha Forest. Visit Seqwater for updates on permitted recreational activities, current closures, and important safety notices for access to nearby lakes and reservoirs.
By visiting Boombana and supporting our efforts, you contribute to the important work being done to protect and expand Queensland's protected area system. We would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to the Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land on which Boombana resides. We recognize their deep connection to the land, sea, and community.

Reviews
"My favourite place in the region! Particularly because of the very sudden change from dry Eucliptus forest to tropical"
"Nice location with a couple of tables. No bbq's. A quick loop walk to the large strangler fig is easy for most people and small kids. A longer walk to Jolly's Lookout is worth it especially if you're there early morning. Lots of interesting wildlife and flora. Plenty of shade to keep you cool. The only negative would be it's proximity to the road. Performance cars and bikes are heard almost constantly on weekends."
"Amazing views and an absolutely beautiful trail. It's a lot easier than you'd think thanks to the flat ground that it mostly sticks to. Lots of chances to see little wallabies!"
"Nice quiet spot with undercover picnic tables, fire pit and toilets. From the carpark you can access the picnic area and walks."
