Our journey began with founder Simon Walkenhorst, whose passion for refinement stemmed from his background as a classical pianist, performing in concert halls. Together with his partner, Beth Williams, an opera singer and musician, their creative talents merged and found expression in the art of craft beer.
Established in 2004, Hargreaves Hill has overcome challenges, including the devastating Black Saturday fires that burnt down our brewery. Today, as a family-owned institution, we are proud to be recognized as pioneers in the Australian craft beer industry, known for our mastery of classic styles and our exceptional seasonal brews.

"Really nice menu.. beautiful fresh food. Salmon was amazing and if you are a chocolate fan you have to try the Brownie with icecream and Salted caramel sauce - very rich, very sweet so maybe share with someone else! Great variety of beers and the stout had amazing coffee hints. Beer paddle gives you the perfect taster of them all.. definitely book ahead as it's a busy place!"
"One of the best small brewers in Victoria. The ESB is in my top 5 favorites. The RIS is another cracker of a beer. The food at the brewery is good hearty fare. Does lack a bit of flavour. It's all in the beer instead. Definitely my favourite place for lunch in Yarra Glen."

"Cute little restaurant with lots of little rooms. When it’s cold they light fires for you. Hearty country menu of burgers, steak, tacos and more. I had a medium rare steak which was cooked to medium but it was still delicious. Steak comes with tasty truffle fries and generous portions of mustard and onion jam. A few of the dessert options looked amazing but some were sold out. I had this pear tart with icecream which was a lovely."
