"We booked through Discovery Stradbroke. $1,000 deposit required for property on top of rental fees. The property itself is at the end of Billa street and has a bush aspect. There is a fire pit in the yard, but there is no fencing. The advertising photos are deceiving in that the second floor of the house is not for rent and users are limited to the downstairs space alone. The unit itself would be quite acceptable should it not be for the extremely poor state of cleanliness and hygiene. Floors have built up grime throughout. Ceiling fans, shutters and windows are covered with dust and dirt. Cob webs are forming in all corners of each room. The carpet in the bedrooms does not look like it has had a proper clean for some time. Three globes were not working upon entry and finally the gas bottles for the hot water system and the stovetop and oven were empty. The stove itself has broken on/off switches - therefore not knowing if an outlet is on or off which is particularly dangerous when considering you are using a gas appliance. There are appliances in the pantry in a state of disrepair and the dishes, pots and pans were not in a clean and usable condition upon entry. The outside patio area near the BBQ and and driveway has accumulated mildew growing and is in desperate need of a powerwash. It is slippery and not safe for walking on. Ironically, we were informed by Dicovery Stradbroke that could not enter the property until 3pm (check in is normally 2pm) due to additional cleaning requirements around COVID. It is our view that this property does not come close to meeting under health and hygiene standards, but represents a genuine risk to guests who choose to stay here in a COVID / post-COVID environment. Upon reflection, upon sighting the state of the cleanliness of the property, we should have reverted back to Discovery right away seeking a resolution. We didn’t and just got on with making due. At the end of the day, the location and quiet aspect of the back yard was lovely."
"Nice little shack. Don't be fooled by the photos visitors only have access to downstairs which means all the bedrooms are very close together. Suitable for one family. Yard is not fenced so will only suit some dogs."
"I love staying here. My husband, kids and I stay at Straddie often and think of it as our second home. Whispering Trees is special as it backdrops into the bush so we see kangaroos feeding morning and night. It's also got a great flat yard for the kids and pets. It is a two minute walk to the pub and the beach. I love the outdoor shower so we arent traipsing sand all through the house. I hate cleaning on my holidays :)"
"Nice homely and has great surroundings"
