Maiala Carpark
About the Business
Welcome to Maiala Carpark, located in the breathtaking Mount Glorious, Australia. As an establishment, parking, and point of interest, Maiala Carpark provides convenient access to the stunning D’Aguilar National Park.
D’Aguilar National Park is a true natural wonder, offering a diverse range of environments and plant communities. Explore the open eucalypt woodlands, scribbly gum forests, and lush subtropical rainforests that make up this incredible park. With over 800 plant species, including rare and threatened ones, you'll be amazed by the rich biodiversity.
The park's cool mountain tops and forest flats create a habitat that is home to a variety of wildlife. From ferns and mosses thriving in the mountain climate to giant barred frogs and spiny crayfish in the mountain streams, the park is teeming with life. Keep an eye out for yellow-bellied gliders, short-eared possums, and owls, such as the vulnerable powerful owl. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the presence of bowerbirds, wompoo fruit-doves, bell miners, and yellow-tailed black-cockatoos.
For a closer encounter with native animals, make sure to visit the Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre. This complex offers a visitor information centre, wedding centre, cafe, and Wildlife Centre, where you can marvel at the region's incredible wildlife.
While enjoying the beauty of D’Aguilar National Park, it is important to follow guidelines to protect the park and its wildlife. Take care with sanitation and hygiene where no toilets are provided, and avoid polluting the natural water supplies. For more information, watch the 'bush toileting and washing' web clip. Remember, caring for parks is essential for preserving our environment and heritage.
Managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) under the Nature Conservation Act 1992, D'Aguilar National Park is dedicated to preserving and showcasing its remarkable natural and cultural values. Part of the park has been declared a special management area (controlled action) to allow for foliage harvesting activities until 2024. These areas are closely monitored to ensure the preservation of natural and cultural values.
