About the Business
Welcome to Bubup Womindjeka Family and Children’s Centre, located at 85 Liardet Street in Port Melbourne, Australia. As a community-run, not-for-profit organization, we are dedicated to providing integrated early learning and care services to the community.
At Bubup Womindjeka, we strive to create a safe and equitable environment that fosters a sense of belonging and respect. We are strong advocates for the rights and participation of each child, and we adhere to the Child Safe Standards throughout our organization.
To ensure your child's comfort and well-being, we kindly request that you provide a clearly named blanket or comforter for rest and sleep times. Additionally, please supply your child's bottles, pre-made with the correct formula, on a daily basis. While our educators will rinse the bottles, they will need to be washed at home. If your child drinks cow's milk, we will provide it, but the bottles will still need to be washed at home.
It is also important for your child to have a spare change of clothes in their bag, and during colder months, they should be equipped with gumboots, a weatherproof jacket, and a beanie. In warmer months, please ensure your child is protected from the sun by providing long-sleeved tops. A clearly named drink bottle for water and a wide-brimmed hat are also necessary for your child's well-being. Our Bubup Womindjeka hats are available for purchase at reception for $10.
We kindly request that children do not bring toys from home, as it can be distracting and may cause distress if the toy gets broken or lost. However, a comfort toy or item that helps your child rest or feel calm is permitted if it supports their well-being.
Our service includes breakfast, lunch, morning tea, and afternoon tea. Our chef prepares healthy and nutritionally balanced meals, taking into account all types of dietary requirements and food intolerances. Our menus are assessed by the Healthy Eating Advisory Service Victoria to ensure they meet the recommended nutritional requirements for children.
At Bubup Womindjeka, we are committed to creating an inclusive community that supports the development of engaged, capable, and confident young learners. We provide an integrated family-focused community center where all children and educators have equal opportunities to reach their full potential.
Transparency, professionalism, and consistency are at the core of our actions. Our relationships are built on trust, authenticity, and ethical interactions. We acknowledge and respect the diverse cultures, beliefs, and strengths of everyone in our community, fostering a strong sense of belonging.
We value partnerships and work closely with all stakeholders to make responsible and fair decisions. We recognize and appreciate the interconnectedness between our children, families, educators, and the wider integrated center community.
If you are passionate about our mission, the Board of Governance is always seeking committed volunteers to contribute their knowledge, skills, and experience to the governance and operations of Bubup Womindjeka. Vacancies will be advertised on our website throughout the year, and applications are welcome at any time.
Lastly, Bubup Womindjeka Family and Children’s Centre respectfully acknowledges the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which our service is located. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal community Elders, both past and present, who have resided in the area and have played an integral role in its history. We honor their proud and resilient cultures and their ongoing connections to land, sea, and sky.

"Such a great centre, we have attended playgroup here for 2.5 years and my son just recently started day-care. The staff are fantastic and i believe they're why my son has settled in so well."
"I had a very thorough experience with the Centre. Firstly I attended new parents' group for several weeks, which was very well organised and structured, and a magnificent opportunity to meet new parents (all of which I'm still in touch with after 2 years and since we all moved away from Port Melbourne). I also attended the maternal child health appointments with a brilliant nurse Kate, who was very caring and supportive and absolutely phenomenal with my child. Additionally, the Centre ran several talks for new parents. I then attended a new playgroup created by our parents' group which was a great opportunity for our children to continue to play and learn together, and to socialise during our earlier, more isolating days of parenthood. Finally, my child attended the childcare there when I went back to work. While the admin was a little iffy, I can't stress enough how amazing the teachers in the infant room were. They were loving and truly cared about each child, and had wonderful events running throughout the year to encourage parent collaboration which made the Centre have even more of a community feel. We were sad to have to leave! The Centre truly is a hub for new parents in Port Melbourne."
"Good place for a training venue."
"Great setup though not very pram friendly."
"Great place! Highly recommend sending your child here. Very high quality of care and education. Love the regular progress feedback we receive."
