About the Business
Welcome to the Translational Research Institute (TRI), located at 37 Kent Street in Woolloongabba, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, TRI is dedicated to advancing medical research through its unique approach of 'bench to bedside' translational research. Our institution combines clinical and translational research to accelerate the progress of laboratory discoveries into real-world applications that benefit our community.
One of our flagship programs, the Translation Pathways program, includes the prestigious Translation Fellowships. We are proud to have awarded four fellowships to early and mid-career researchers, each valued at $20,000. These fellowships, launched in 2023, aim to support and empower researchers in their pursuit of groundbreaking discoveries.
In collaboration with the Australia e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC) at CSIRO, Australia's national science agency, TRI has jointly awarded $300,000 to innovative projects aimed at solving healthcare challenges. This partnership demonstrates our commitment to fostering collaboration and driving impactful solutions in the field of healthcare.
TRI also collaborates with our esteemed hospital partners, Metro South Health (MSH), Mater Research, and Children's Health Queensland (CHQ), to promote new clinical collaborations between early-career clinicians and scientists. Through our joint efforts, we have awarded seven new research grants that will pave the way for exciting advancements in medical science.
At TRI, our work is centered around translational research, a collaborative process that involves patients, clinicians, and researchers working together to address health challenges more efficiently. This 'bench-to-bedside' research focuses on translating fundamental scientific discoveries from the laboratory into clinical practices. By doing so, we aim to improve the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of various health conditions, ultimately enhancing the overall health outcomes for patients.
Our dedicated team at TRI is committed to developing new treatments and diagnostics for a wide range of conditions, including various cancers and autoimmune diseases. Through our research efforts, we strive to translate these discoveries into tangible improvements in healthcare.
In addition to our research endeavors, we also host Medical Grand Rounds every Monday. These informative sessions can be accessed through video conference, allowing healthcare professionals and researchers to stay updated on the latest advancements and trends in the medical field.
As we embark on this journey of discovery and innovation, TRI acknowledges and respects the traditional custodians of the land we occupy, the Turrbal and Jagera people. We recognize their ongoing connection to the land, waters, and community, and pay our deepest respects to their cultures and the Elders, both past and present.
Join us at the Translational Research Institute as we strive to transform medical research and make a positive impact on the health and well-being of our community.

"It's a nice building but does not have proper parking and is also so confusing for the first commers to find the entrance!"
"Such a beautiful research centre to learn at. Convenient public transport options (train and bus) and walking distance to a number of useful venues nearby. There's only one cafe here called Catalyst, but I have always received great service. Pacemaker is not too far away."
"I am lucky enough to work on this beautiful building. But even better than the building is the wonderful people who work there. Everyone is dedicated to trying to improve our lives and health. Please keep up the good work. Jim"
"Spectacular atrium space, restful place to drink a coffee amongst a large city hospital."
