Glee Fu Chinese Restaurant

"Most of the mains were pretty good (with the honey chicken being truly outstanding). Unfortunately, the main dishes came out one at a time over a prolonged period, with the special fried rice being the very last. We had eaten most of the mains by that point and had to remind a waiter we were still waiting on the rice. The 'deep fried' ice cream was absolutely appalling. The ice cream had been wrapped in a piece of white bread instead of batter. Not even joking. Also quite sure it hadn't been deep fried at all, just rolled in something to make some pre-toasted coconut stick. I feel odd noting this next bit, but the most disappointing thing about the whole experience was how Asian customers would repeatedly receive their orders before non-Asian customers, despite the Asian customers ordering later. We were not the only ones we observed this happen to. After an hour, I inquired about how our order was progressing. They started cooking the first of our dishes only after that prompt. Sorry to say we won't be going back, especially since that honey chicken was so good. If you have Asian heritage, you'll probably enjoy your experience. If not, you may find it a bit mixed."

"Was told a 40min wait for takeaway on a Sunday evening and didn't appear very busy. Ended up waiting over an hour for two of the same meal and one serve of spring rolls. Lady at the front counter looked completely lost, customer service was not great at all. We had high hopes for the meals considering it was over an hours wait, and were sorely disappointed - probably a full onion used in each dish. The onions weren't peeled properly so every third mouthful had onion skins. Sauce for the sweet and sour pork was pretty boring and underwhelming. Only thing decent is the prices, considering the only other chinese restaurants in the area are grossly overpriced."

"A decent place to get all of your Chinese food staples. I had the Hainanese Chicken Rice which was pretty good but not the greatest I've had - the chicken was bone on and the rice was a bit dry, but the accompanying sauces were good and overall the flavours were spot on."

"Best chicken rice I've had in Brisbane!! Absolutely delicious with well-seasoned chicken and aromatic rice. Simple but perfect. The fish-fragrant eggplant was super tasty as well, but left a tingly aftertaste on my tongue that affected my perception of other dishes. Not sure if that's a personal thing; perhaps I'm allergic to something in it? It was still great and the white rice was an amazing complement to the sauce. The cold cucumber entree was the perfect start to our meal. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, with furniture and decor that reminds me of my home country Malaysia. Nothing too fancy but I love that charm. Staff members were friendly and service was pretty fast. Overall a great experience and I look forward to going back to try other dishes."

"Let me tell you about the Chinese Peppery Chicken with Rice. I love this dish. It's Chinese style - full of bones so you can savour the flavours for ages, because it takes so long to eat. It's also a bit spicy. And the peppercorns might make your mouth a bit numb. So great. If you're too lazy to eat bone in chicken (what's wrong with you!?), there are a few other good choices. The fried noodle with vegetable and beef / chicken is tasty. The restaurant is bare bones and functional. However, the food is great, so it's all good. I would say the food here seems more authentically Chinese, not overly Westernised."
