While our doors reopened in 2009, the history of Auto Plus More's family business dates back over 100 years in the Emerald region. Barney Hogan, the owner, comes from a lineage deeply rooted in the automotive industry. His grandfather owned the Coffee Palace, and his father, Kevin Hogan, was a fuel distributor who eventually built the service station where Auto Plus More stands today. Although the station suffered a fire in 1963, it was rebuilt and passed through different owners until Barney bought it back in 2009.

Barney's passion for automotive repairs began in 1974 when he started his career as an apprentice mechanic. Over the years, he gained invaluable experience working on truck and heavy machinery maintenance in various mines worldwide. In 1985, Barney spent a year in Europe working on race cars, and his involvement with racing teams spans over four decades.
