"I was apprehensive to write this but decided I should after my friend encouraged me. I was initially so impressed by NMFMC, Dr. Dilly was beyond fantastic. She was genuinely the most lovely doctor I have ever met. She unfortunately had to leave the surgery, and so I was passed on to Dr Kal. I didn't have that great of experience with Dr Kal which was disappointing. Every time I had an appointment, she would be over an hour late. I understand the complexities/ strain of being a GP but also believe that you're not entitled to freely waste peoples time when they're seeking a detrimental service such as health care. I am not over-exaggerating when I say an hour late too, it was ridiculous. Her bedside manner is also deplorable, at least to my friend and I. I explained my problems, to which she insisted on performing two incredibly invasive exams on me. One being a Pap smear; I am under 25, and have had all of my HPV vaccines. I explained this to her in which she responded "yes but its never 100%". I love rigorous doctors, but given the fact I had explained to her just before I have a history of health anxiety and that she was scaring me - it just felt completely unnecessary. I went instead to a different clinic, and was met with warmth, and compassion upon presentation of my issues. I had tests done, and it came back as something incredibly common and of no concern. I told this doctor that Dr Kal had insisted upon a Pap smear. This doctor was genuinely puzzled, and confused as to why she would order that. She then reassured me that I was completely fine, and that my concern would clear with antibiotics. Sure enough it did. My friend had been experiencing severe stomach/ period pains to the point where she wasn't eating. I took her to NMFMC, and we saw Dr Kal. This was due to convenience. Dr Kal said she had indigestion, and prescribed her tablets for reflux. My friend also told her that it was so bad she wasn't eating, to which Dr Kal started implying she had an eating disorder. Which my friend and I both said, is completely not true. My friend has what we believe to be endometriosis, and has had recent help from a different doctor who suspects the same. Her experience with Dr Kal was so dismissive, and disappointing. As a woman, we had expected a little more compassion and knowledge regarding female concerns. Finally, the receptionist is beyond rude. I have absolutely no clue why she is consistently in such a dreadful mood, but I really think she needs to reconsider her position. I am talking about the older woman, and not the young receptionist who is only there one or two days a week (who is lovely btw). I booked through hot doc, for a 4pm appointment with Dr Dilly before she left the clinic. This was booked a week ago or so, I called up the reception to confirm my appointment. The receptionist, day of my appointment, literally 3pm told me I did not have an appointment and that someone else was scheduled in. I explained I have text messages from the clinic confirming it, and an email. She said that they were having issues with hot doc, and that I shouldn't book with them. She then told me there was nothing she could do and that I just have to wait for another time with her, in spite me having several booking conformations. I was in severe pain, I rocked up to the clinic and ended up crying in front of her, in which she must've used her tiny shroud of empathy to actually get in contact with Dr Dilly and explain that I was crying in the reception. Dr Dilly of course saw me; there was no issue. I explained what happened and she said she would pass on the information and had said there had been some other complaints in the past (I mean just read the rest of these reviews). I was genuinely so disappointed with the service after Dr Dilly had left. There was absolutely nothing I saw of benefit or positivity coming from that clinic anymore, I have since transferred my medical files to a much better clinic. Please reconsider before booking here guys."
"I will no longer be returning to this medical clinic because of the poor service the receptionist provides and the appearance of incompetence from the male Dr here. I am sorry to leave such a poor review but I have just been so disappointed from my past 3 appointments."
"I would give this clinic 0 stars if I could. They have terrible time management and I was seen 45 mins after my scheduled time. Receptionist was very dismissive, rude and quite useless both in person and on the phone. I would rather get sick and take my chances than see Dr. Tim Stobie again. He was very judgemental, intrusive and has no empathy. He made me feel very uncomfortable and was confused when I was became upset. If you’re a young woman or anyone for that matter, don’t see him. I can’t speak for the other physicians or nurses but I have since moved to another facility (Royal Park Medical) and have had a completely different (amazing) experience."
"I visited North Melbourne Family Medical Clinic today and was thoroughly impressed with all aspects. Firstly, the receptionist (Ebony) was very friendly and welcoming. She made the process of intial paperwork a breeze. I saw Dr Dimitrijevich for my appointment. He was professional, knowledgeable, kind and approachable. I would recommend this clinic to all my friends and family."
"I recently moved into the North Melbourne area and needed to find a new GP practise quickly. After visiting two other GP clinics in the North and West Melbourne area, I can confidently say that the North Melbourne Family Medical Centre is by far and away the superior clinic in the area. Not only was I greeted by exceedingly friendly reception staff but I was offered a thorough consultation by a kind and attentive doctor and Practise Nurse. Unlike the reviewer's experience below (which I find incredibly surprising) the reception staff were quick to inform me that the doctor was running five minutes late due to a "walk-in" patient who had a medical complaint that required urgent attention. The staff offered profuse apologies (about a modest five minute delay, no less) and offered to reschedule my appointment. In addition to the thoughtful and attentive service that I received by all members of staff I was thrilled to learn that - as a full-time university student - I was entitled to bulk billed medical consultations. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the North Melbourne Family Medical Clinic to anyone looking to join a warm and welcoming family medical practise in the North Melbourne area."
